Flight Diverts After Passenger Takes Flight Attendant Hostage in Galley

Air China flight CA1350 from Changsha to Beijing diverted to Zhengzhou on Sunday after a passenger took a flight attendant hostage in the galley.

The daily Airbus A321 service took off at 8:40 a.m. and arrived Zhengzhou at 9:58 a.m. It had been scheduled into Beijing at 11. Passengers were moved into the terminal although so far there’s little reporting on exactly how the situation was resolved.

Paddle Your Own Kanoo unearthed photos from Chinese social media.

China’s Civil Aviation Administration says the passenger held a pen to the throat of the flight attendant, however other reports are that it was a knife:

According to Chinese police the 41 year old male named “Wu” had “a history of mental illness.”
