Hilton’s Second Quarter Double Points or Double Miles

Via Deals We Like, Hilton HHonors’ second quarter promotion is double points or double miles April 1 through June 30.

Not an exciting promotion, nothing that’s going to convince me to make stays I wouldn’t otherwise make.

At the margin whether this induces me to stay at a Hilton versus some other chain, it probably won’t and will especially depend on the full gamut of what other chains are doing during the same period for their promotions.

Nonetheless, it’s certainly worth registering for, better to take double points or miles than to leave them on the table.

And I always suggest registering even if you don’t think you’re likely to make a stay during the promotion period, I find I often surprise myself with such things and I’d otherwise forget to register later.

Sadly there’s a monster list of non-participating hotels, mostly in the U.S. I wouldn’t worry too much about that, since it’s not a promo worth ‘chasing’ — just one to register for, forget about, and see what posts! (Although if british midland weren’t on the verge of being sold to British Airways, 2000 bmi miles per night up to 3 nights would be tempting!)

  1. Gary,

Would choosing Hawaiian Airlines be another way with this deal to get more Hilton points if your stay isn’t long or expensive? That is an extra 2000 hilton points when you convert it plus the 10 base points per dollar on the double dip.

  2. 2,000 bmi miles a night (up to three nights) might be worth a gamble as Diamond Club won’t disappear immediately on completion and if they’re converted to Avios (only 1000 per stay under this promo) down the line….

  3. Depending if/how Diamond Club converts to avios, this is a great deal for short-haul flights. Imagine getting a free roundtrip flight (e.g., YYZ-ORD/JFK) every 5 nights?

  4. I’d like up to triple points offer of Q1 2011, which was actually quadruple points with Diamond status. However, double points is not a bad offer nontheless. If you are a Hilton Diamond and select points and points as earning style, then you get 20 points per dollar spent. So the double points offer means you receive 30 points per dollar spent plus the 50 percent bonus for the status, and it amounts to 35 points for dollar spent. Add in 6-9 points per dollar spent on a Hilton AMEX, and there is quite a good amount of Hilton points that can be earned.
