Hotel Guests Jump From Rooftop Bar At The Grand Hyatt Nashville, Speed Off In A Car Across The Street

Two hotel guests BASE jumped off the 25th floor rooftop bar at the Grand Hyatt Nashville on Friday evening as other patrons caught the scene on video.

Police responded to the scene about 7 p.m. after “approached the building ledge and jumped over..caus[ing] mass panic and patrons for the bar began screaming.” The jumpers parachuted “across the road and landed in an adjacent parking lot.” They then got into a car that was parked in the lot and headed off.

While the pair returned to the hotel, they are now banned from the property. According to the Hyatt,

The hotel immediately engaged local authorities, and the guests were subsequently evicted and banned from the hotel. We vehemently condemn this kind of reckless behavior, and further questions regarding this situation may be directed to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

According to the police report BASE jumpers “are at-large.” BASE stands for building, antenna, span and earth, fixed points to jump from. Getting banned from the hotel seems like a mistake with Hyatt’s generous and stackable promotions going on right now. However,

  1. It was a foolish stunt and the hotel can certainly ban them, but what law did they break? Disorderly conduct? I doubt there is a specific law in Nashville banning BASE jumping, but I could be wrong.

  2. With the city already on edge after the bomb attack, this was doubly foolish and insensitive.
