  1. The Marriott family started out on the east coast selling ice cream. Then they moved west and then they diversified into other food lines.

  2. BA First is solidly middle of the pack for Transatlantic onboard food/beverage – below AF/LX, at or above LH if you value things beyond caviar.

    I think they do a better job in terms of quality of food and wine in First than Lufthansa, even with the less ambitious catering of the last year on BA. Yes there’s the caviar on LH, but outside that the mains and apps are good biz class grade.

    Clearly lounge/ground handling wise it’s beat by a mile by LH/LX and AF.
