Last June Hyatt previewed a plan to offer confirmed early check-in and late check-out at Hyatt Place hotels. This was supposed to launch in ‘early 2019’.
Oddly Hyatt hasn’t announced it as far as I’m aware, but it does seem to be live. And indeed it’s being promoted at the Hyatt Place where I’m currently staying:
Elites continue to get their late check-out benefit. General members can request to have 2 p.m. check-out confirmed for $10.
And they’ve added early check-in, at 9 a.m. or Noon, “starting at $10” for general members and Discoverists and free for Explorists and Globalists.
MEMBER:
– Early check-in at 9am or 12pm: starting at $10

Requests need to be made within 7 days of your arrival either online (if making reservation within a week of arrival) or via mobile app (for existing bookings).
Terms and conditions:
Early check-in and late checkout are subject to availability. Early check-in and late checkout are not guaranteed. Offer is only valid at participating Hyatt Place hotels, for World of Hyatt members who book an eligible rate or redeem an award night. Advanced reservation is required. The fee associated with early check-in and late checkout varies by specific hotel and will not be charged until after the early check-in/late checkout is confirmed. If the early check-in or late checkout time cannot be confirmed, the hotel may attempt to contact the guest via email and/or telephone. Offer may not be available on certain room types or levels and may be subject to limitations. If a hotel cannot accommodate room preference with early check-in or late checkout, it may, but is under no obligation to, offer guest an alternate room type. Early check-in and late checkout offer may only be available during certain specified periods before a stay (if any).
Valid on free night certificates?
What happens if I just show up at 8am to see if the room is ready for check-in? Sometimes the rooms are. Would I be slapped with this bullshit fee?
Just tried to extend at Bonita Springs Resort while we enjoyed the buffet. We were told 30 minutes was the best we could do. Both my wife and I are Discoverists. I wasn’t impressed.
