I May Have Gotten Bilt’s Milestone Rewards All Wrong [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • I’ve been thinking more about Bilt’s Milestone Rewards, and I think the name confused me. Milestone Rewards at other programs are meant to get you to stretch your engagement between status levels. Bilt has certainly set theirs up in the same manner.

But really they’re just making small targeted offers more “opt in.” Maybe you’ll do more Lyft Rides after being incented with bonus points on 3 Lyft rides, for instance.

In other words, most of these offers is designed to get you to engage more with their credit card in a specific spend category or with one of the partners – rather than being something you are “earning” if you stretch your engagement with Bilt. Still not interesting to me, but my mental model may have been off here.

  • Bali has a new tourism tax (~US$13.59 per person) paid on arrival, not included in your ticket. But you can save time by paying in advance online.

  • 30% bonus transferring Citi ThankYou points to Virgin from February 18 through March 16, 2024.

  • Virgin is offering up to 10,000 bonus points for two one-ways booked by February 18 for travel by June 30 No registration required, and basic economy fares are excluded. Bonus is 2,000 bonus points for coach; 5,000 for premium economy; and 10,000 for business class.

  • That’s pretty good.

  • I can respect this.
