Via John Ollila Hyatt is expected to introduce a promotion to earn up to 60,000 points between September 1 and November 30.
Through August 31 there’s a modest bonus for stays at Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt hotels of 500 points per night awarded only in 5 night increments. Earlier in the year they had a somewhat more generous promotion at all of their brands.

You’ll be able to earn a total of 60,000 points, awarded in chunks after staying at various threshold numbers of nights during the promotion period.
After: | Earn: | Bonus Per Night
5 Nights | 2500 Points | 500
10 Nights | 5000 Points | 1000
20 Nights | 10,000 Points | 1000
30 Nights | 17,500 Points | 1750
40 Nights | 25,000 Points | 2500 |
Registration will be required, and the link to register is not up yet. One nice thing is that since redemption stays now count as stays with Hyatt, you should be able to earn points through this offer even when you’re spending points (but we’ll have to wait and see that this remains true once the offer terms and conditions are released).
It’s nice to see something chain-wide return, even though it’s not nearly as generous as what we saw as recently as two years ago where 25 nights would earn 75,000 points.
If points were awarded each night, so no night went unawarded, it wouldn’t be bad at all — especially as you stay more than 30 nights in 3 months. I value Hyatt points at 1.4 cents apiece so 500 points is worth $7 and 2500 points worth $35.

Hotel promotions are pretty much on life support because hotel occupancy and rates are up year-over-year — and that’s compared to last year which was itself a record. Chains don’t have to spend a lot of marketing dollars to put heads in beds right now.
Thanks for the heads up
A welcome relief from the Marriott titanic integration
If award nights count I’d def beef up my revenue reservations away from other chains and book more woh awards
My question is does award nights count and does the new Hyatt credit card count with elite qualifying nights?
will this be stacked with the hyatt redemption 10% rebate that is also ongoing?
For instance, for a 2 night stay that costs 50k points I would get 15k back?
Gary,
Correct your chart: 60k/40 nights is 1500 per night 🙂
@sam: Yes, but it would require 10 nights at 50k total to get 15k back.
@mojo: He’s giving the marginal bonus per night, not the (overall) average. You are correct for the latter of course.
How is this “ leaked”? Every blogger puts it on their site and attaches a link. Come one – marketing ploy and you guys make it look like a scoop.
@DT – It was leaked, and so then Hyatt put out a note to bloggers about it afterward
@mojo – you’re doing the math wrong. 60k/40 would be 1500 per night, but the relevant earn is at the margin, how much you’re getting for nights 31-40 and that’s 25,000 points for those 10 nights or 2500 per night 😉
