Missed Flight Meltdown: Woman Arrested After Chasing Plane onto Canberra Runway

A woman who had missed her flight at the Canberra, Australia airport “decided she could still catch it” so she “pushed past the staff at the door and ran down onto the tarmac” to try to catch the plane. She stood underneath the aircraft, next to the front wheel – fortunately the pilot was aware that she was there and “killed the engine.”

Here is the thing at no point even with plenty of staff around no one stopped her. So much for security. If she was at the cricket she would have been gang tackled. Feel sorry for he people now stuck on the plane. Which was ready to take off.

According to Simon Hales, who witnessed the events from inside the airport, “She’s trying to yell at the pilot, she’s trying to get his attention and jump up, it was bizarre.”

The woman was arrested by Australian Federal Police after this stunt on Wednesday evening. Flights at the airport were paused for “about 10 minutes.”

  1. I once saw a business woman in high heels run and grab a handle on a departing Amtrak train. Despite an amtrak staffer in the next car doorway yelling at her to let go, she successfully stopped the train after 200 feet and boarded.

  2. On I Love Lucy she managed to stop a train multiple times. There were some people unhappy about this. Fred and Ethel for sure. Instead of their meals landing in their mouth it landed on their clothes!
