No, it’s not showering onboard an Emirates Airbus A380.
I’m not really a destination blogger per se but it really can be all about the destination.
Earlier this week I took a helicopter….
…through a rainforest…
and landed on a rock.
Next to a waterfall…
.. where I sat and drank champagne.
Business class airfare thanks to Delta SkyMiles and hotel covered by Starwood Starpoints. Brunch where only a handful of people have ever gone? Well, I suppose I could have charged it to my room and convinced the hotel to claim an Instant Award against it. But, well, those aren’t an especially good value use of Starpoints.
I feel like I can take the occasional splurge when the air and hotel are covered by points. And wandering around the forest, dipping in the water, for a few hours — well, that was truly priceless.
Trip report to come…
What does your perfect travel day look like?
Are you back in Australia? I thought you were there in Nov.?
awesome. looks fantastic. hope you and the missus had a good time. What rainforest?
That looks like a day from “The Bachelor” … I hope you asked your wife to accept the rose –{–{–@
The Sheraton Port Douglas – aspirational? No. Using it as a launchpad for these kinds of shenanigans – Freakin’Epic. Good on ya, mate.
It’s funny how similar our perfect travel days are since I subscribe (literally & figuratively 😉 to your
travel theory.
On my birthday in November I woke up in my SNA suite at theSt. Regis Rome- after my Plat breakfast a driverpicked my husband and I up and drove us to a little winery in Umbria where the owner had prepared a special birthday meal for me with hand picked truffles and a delicious home made
cake. The driver then drove us to the St Regis Florence – where our SNAs had also cleared & we were escorted to a gorgeous suite overlooking the Arno. Our entire 11 night trip was on hotel points and we flew Air France biz class on miles. Like you,
we felt justified on splurging on special experiences because we had no other cash outlays for this trip. We have been strategically traveling this way for about 14 years now & can’t believe how few people know these “secrets”
Thanks for your great tips
