New American Airlines Offer Fast Tracks Your Elite Status — And Lets You Gift It Too (Check Your Account)

American Airlines has an amazing elite status fast track offer that’s targeted, in accounts now, and you should definitely check if it’s available to you.

One Mile at a Time reports on two versions of the offer.

  • Earn 40,000 Loyalty Points (Gold status), receive 35,000 bonus Loyalty Points (gets Platinum and progress towards higher levels) or gift Gold status if you prefer.
  • Earn 75,000 Loyalty Points (Platinum status), receive 50,000 bonus Loyalty Points (gets Platinum Pro and progress towards Executive Platinum), or gift Platinum status if you prefer.

Ryan Smith flags a third:

  • Earn 125,000 Loyalty Points (Platinum Pro status), receive 75,000 bonus Loyalty Points (gets Executive Platinum), or gift Platinum Pro status if you prefer.

I’m curious what you have in your account. I do not have any offers in mine, and my wife doesn’t in hers.

  • Register by May 23, 2025
  • You have the full AAdvantage program year to earn the required Loyalty Programs (March 1 – February 28)
  • You’ll have 60 days to choose your bonus after completing the offer.
  • If you make the selection prior to the end of the program year (February 28, 2026) bonus Loyalty Points are for the current program year, while if you select after that it’s for the next program year.
  • Gifted status is valid through February 28, 2027.

This seems to be largely for members who aren’t well on their way to status, and given that it’s about the most lucrative offer we’ve seen in awhile for accelerating status earn from a major airline it may suggest weakness in the air travel market (and broader economy). American – during its first quarter earnings call on Thursday – suggested that they’re hurting in domestic economy.

  1. Don’t bother wasting your money. I have been Platinum through earning miles since 2018 and have been upgrade only twice in seven years: AUS-MIA, & LAS-MIA.

  2. @derek…. that’s because you’re platinum. If you are reading Gary, you should have known for years that platinum means absolutely nothing.

  3. Well, if this doesn’t cost anything out-of-pocket, then, of course, if targeted, I will accept those terms, but no, it’s not gonna make me change my habits, purchases, or travel plans by much.

  4. No dice. P1 or P2. Oh well. EPs for years and years. Let it slide, purposely, to Platinum Pro, and since it’s OW Emerald already, anyway, that’s simply good enough for us. Meh. Bah. Nod.

  5. Trying to entice more business but not taking care of those already giving them business . Ignore your best customers and they will go away . Just like keeping 3 million milers at the same lifetime status as 2 million milers. Same stuff , different day , same financial results .

  6. Gold and Platinum tier on AA aren’t worth it. You’ll get upgraded on a regional jet at best.

  7. If it makes you all feel better, aside from 20k loyalty points at the end of 2024 from a SUB, I literally cannot recall my last activity with AA.

Still have no offer. Used to be EXP 10 years ago, now I’m nothing, and still, I don’t see much of a difference.

  8. @shoeguy — I wouldn’t ‘chase’ that status, but if you ‘earn’ or ‘get’ it, even Gold is good for a ‘free’ checked bag, and a super-lucky upgrade if on an odd routing or schedule. You never know. Bah!

  9. Nope, no offer in my (EXP) or the husband’s (PLT) accounts.

But my 90-year-old mother, who has not flown in 5+ years (and, unfortunately, is unlikely to do so again), received the following “exclusive offer” to buy up:

Lock in your AAdvantage Gold® status for 2025
Status valid through: March 31, 2026
    $699 or 70K miles

  10. @Disco Dave — Sounds like your meemaw’s gonna be livin’ large with that status, son!

  11. I had no offer. EXP for last 2 years.
Bummed because I have a flight booked in May that should net me 85k+ LPs – would’ve been nice to get a bonus on top! LOL

  12. No offer, had been exp for 3 years then dropped down to plat this year.

Anecdotally, elite upgrades are way up recently.

  13. I’m Plat being offered PlatPro for $1,919 or 192k miles.
PlatPro wife offered ExPlat for $2159 or 216k miles.
No thanks, hard pass on both.

  14. EP since 2004. Got 125k offer. Since I’m dfw based I’ll hit it. But I’m flying UA a whole lot more these days

  15. @ Gary — LT Plat w zero LP in 2 years. Received the Earn 75k, get 50k offer. I registered, but doubt I will earn any LP. Why bother?

Spouse also LT Plat. Earned a few k random LP last 2 years and did NOT receive any offer.
