New Capital One Exclusive Dining, Sports, Music And Arts Events

Capital One launched its entertainment portal in March, and there have been some exceptional deals for cardmembers on Major League Baseball on the back of the card issuer’s 9-figure sponsorship deal. Also in March Capital One launched their new dining portal with curated restaurant recommendations and set-aside tables in 11 U.S. cities.

Both of these have in common special opportunities for being a Capital One cardmember in bigger and more branded ways than Capital One has offered in the past. And they help Capital One become more of a lifestyle brand for its cardmembers, creating more than a transactional relationship.

  • They’re leveraging their scale, brand and resources to deliver experiences that go beyond rebates (points)
  • And engage in ways that speak to the narratives of how people think about themselves, the stories they tell themselves about who they are – think of this in the same vein as hotels chasing wellness and offering lifestyle brands that people will pay a premium for
  • Experiences that people couldn’t access on their own, that are worth more to an individual than they cost or that they could get for themselves on their own, engender loyalty
  • And the focus on VIP sports experiences, Michelin chef dining, and other aspirational pursuits targets a premium, high-spending demographic

Capital One has now extended its celebrity chef dinners that it’s run before, and added an arts offering (a new partnership with Cultivist) as well, in addition to highlighting several other opportunities in the Dining and Entertainment space.

Gosh! “And engage in ways that speak to the narratives of how people think about themselves, the stories they tell themselves about who they are”. did you write this? There are people like that who are not under care?

“worth more to an individual than they cost”. Yep, that’s how money is made.
