American let me know that they are going to start accepting Admirals Club passes at US Airways clubs, and US Airways club passes at American clubs, on July 2.
- So the club pass that you may have gotten from a US Airways credit card will work at American lounges
- And the club passes you can buy at for $29 instead of $50 on the US Airways website will be accepted at American lounges
- Meanwhile if you have one of those American club passes picked up at a lounge after showing your American Express Platinum card those will be good at US Airways lounges as well.
Specifically, here’s the announcement:
On July 2nd, all One-Day Passes will be valid in our combined network of nearly 60 Admirals Club and US Airways Club lounges worldwide and will be available for purchase for $50. We are also aligning our guest policies for One-Day Passes which allow for up to three children under the age of 18 to be admitted at no additional cost if accompanied by an adult day pass visitor.
I love that they’re giving some advance notice that there will be a change in pricing for US Airways club passes (“all One-Day Passes .. will be available for purchase for $50”), in other words the online discount will be eliminated July 2.
The current pricing is:
If you do want a $29 club pass that will be valid at either a US Airways or American Airlines lounge, pick one up during the online booking process at usairways.com before next Wednesday.
Here’s a report on the US Airways Club at New York LaGuardia and one on the American Admirals Club in Sao Paulo.
I have a hard time paying $29 for single time admittance to a club, even though it’s a discount compared to regular one visit pricing.
I get my lounge access via the Citi Executive card (I got 100,000 miles for signing up) as well as via my Briitsh Airways Silver status. I would likely redeem Business ExtrAA points (American’s small business program) for a membership if I didn’t have either of those.
Meanwhile, American’s access policy says that one day passes do not come with any guests. US Airways club rules also currently say the same. Allowing three minor children on a single guest pass certainly seems generous.
