Passenger Steals Flight Attendant’s Meal, Breaks Lavatory Door, Urinates in Seat

On October 23 a man and his son were flying from Larnaca, Cyprus to Mancester, U.K. on British holiday airline Jet2 – and all you usually have to say is ‘Jet2’ because you know the flight was going to get out of control.

The father became aggressive with another passenger after being asked to wear his face mask. The men yelled at flight attendants and followed them into the galley, threatened to drag one of the cabin crew off the plane and also to urinate on other passengers. And it all started out over a flight attendant’s meal – that the son supposedly stole and ate.

The father appeared in court this week and was fined $882 for “entering an aircraft when drunk” along with $112 in court costs and an $88 “victim surcharge.” The son failed to appear and now has an arrest warrant out.

‘When the plane landed and taxied to the airport, the defendant stood up, but was asked to sit down as they were still moving. ‘He sat down but stood up again and said he needed to use the toilet, stating: ‘Shall I p**s on you then, w****r?’

‘Once the plane came to a standstill, he made his way to the rear of the aircraft to go to the toilet, which was locked. ‘He broke the handle into the toilet and urinated with the door open in view of the female crew member.’ …He had also urinated on his seat, the court heard.

The man, offered in his defense, that all of his actions were actually “try[ing to] calm matters down but became embroiled in the commotion.” And that he “doesn’t understand why the situation got out of control.”

Jet2 Boeing 737

Jet2 passengers are the U.K.’s answer to Spirit Airlines customers, just with more alcohol. And if you have the extra money to cover a fine, you probably aren’t flying Jet2. When incidents happen on Jet2 it’s often with two dozen passengers at a time. It’s the airline where we’ve seen alcohol not just in the passenger cabin but also in the cockpit as well. So this latest incident just seems like part of the Jet2 experience.

  1. You’re better than this Gary. Stick to analysis of the travel industry, which you’re great at

  2. This is a very helpful analysis of the travel industry. I had not heard of the reputation of Jet2 before but now that I have I will steer very clear of the airline even if it has good routes, flight times and fares.

  3. What a load of rubbish I have flown with Jet2 many times & the flight crew are always very friendly & helpful, I have never experienced any problems on their flights. Take no notice if that nasty report he obviously doesn’t like Jet2 but I would fly with them any time, much better than TUI or easyJet.

  4. Pretty unprofessional to allude to another airline’s passengers with no evidence (Spirit) and also when every single airline has their share of “aggressive” flyers. Congratulations on being stereotypical.

  5. Having just read this article, I’m absolutely appalled by Mr Leff ,I have travelled with jet 2 for the last 9 years, sometimes 4 times a year, i have never witnessed this sort of behaviour, so I can honestly say it is certainly not normal behaviour with this airline, they have some of the best staff ,and are one of the best airlines I have travelled with, unfortunately Mr G Leff doesn’t know or has travelled with Jet 2, this is unfortunately a very nasty article,
And way off the mark !!

  6. Very well written. I needed that tonight anf I especially liked the part where the son stole the flight attendants meal.
