Each month Singapore Airlines offers ‘Spontaneous Escapes’ awards which are award discounts for travel in the next month. With Asia travel down generally there are extra seats to open up on points.
San Francisco – Singapore non-stop, SQ flights 1 and 2, are on sale for 66,500 miles each way in business class. That’s a 30% discount.
Premium economy is also on sale:
- San Francisco – Singapore, 46,600 miles each way
- Los Angeles – Singapore, 46,600 miles each way
- New York JFK – Singapore, 51,100 miles each way
In addition April travel is available in premium economy for the Singapore – Los Angeles route at 46,600 miles each way.
Of course most of the routes that are on sale don’t touch North America. Australia and South Africa, among many others, are available too.
Singapore Airlines generally only makes long haul premium cabin award seats to their own members. Fortunately Singapore Airlines Krisflyer miles are easy to get, since they’re a transfer partner of all of the major bank credit card points-to-miles transfer programs.
I’m flyer Singapore Airlines next month JFK-FRA in Premium Economy and looking forward to the experience. Hope to fly them business class some day but, while I got the PE seat on sale and business was likewise on sale, I couldn’t justify the $1500 difference for a 7 1/2 hour flight since their PE ranks pretty highly.
One thing I did was set up a Kris Flyer account instead of adding to my United Account. Frankly I NEVER fly United and only have an account from years ago (previous Continental account number) and this way I can move my Chase Ultimate and Membership Rewards points to Kris Flyer and actually take advantage of some of the deals they offer. IMHO must better option than going through United. Also lifetime AA and DL elite with many points still in both programs so I have those alliances covered
Unfortunately, my travel plans are pretty set for the year. Cannot redeem. Nevertheless, thank you.
