Someone registered a new username (first post) on Flyertalk to leak details of Starwood’s as-yet-unannounced summer promotion.
The offer: 1,000 bonus points on eligible stays of two or more nights that include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night at participating hotels and resorts (Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights in the Middle East).
The website to register for the promotion is not yet live as of this writing.
As a result, I can’t confirm these details, but it looks specific enough and plausible enough that it seems likely correct (although strange that a promotion starting June 1 would not yet be live).
1000 bonus points on two night stays is hardly exciting, and while we’ll have to wait until the web page for the offer is live to see excluded properties the very reference to ‘participating hotels’ suggests there will be some or many.
Details of the offer, as leaked:
REGISTRATION: SPG® members must register online at spg.com/makeitcount by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on August 15, 2015. Registered members can earn bonus Starpoints® for every eligible stay between June 1, 2015, and August 31, 2015 (the “Promotion Period”) at participating Starwood hotels and resorts.EARNING: Registered members will earn 1,000 Starpoints on eligible stays of two or more consecutive nights that include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night at participating hotels and resorts, other than those in the following Middle East locations: Jordan: Amman; Bahrain: Bahrain; Kuwait: Kuwait City; Lebanon: Beirut; Saudi Arabia: Al Khobar, Damman, Jeddah, Makkah, Medina and Riyadh; Qatar: Doha; United Arab Emirates; Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai and Fujairah. Participating hotels and resorts in these Middle East locations will instead award an additional 1,000 Starpoints for any eligible stay that includes a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. There is no limit on the number of bonus Starpoints that can be earned during the Promotion Period for this offer. Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers are not combinable.
BONUSING: Bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member’s account within two to four weeks after the qualifying stay posts.
ELIGIBLE STAYS: An Eligible Stay is defined as two or more consecutive nights paying an Eligible Rate in the same hotel regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur and post to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest® account. Eligible Stays with at least two nights in the earning period that include a weekend night will receive a bonus. An Eligible Rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. A description of SPG-participating hotels and resorts and of Eligible Stays and Eligible Rates can be found at spg.com under Terms & Conditions of the SPG Program. See Section 1.4 b iii for the complete definition of Eligible Rates. Note that certain room reservations — e.g., when the booking is made through a third party, including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com, orbitz.com and delta.com — are not considered Eligible Rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify for promotional earnings.
As a Lifetime Platinum who was ignored for the latest round of targeted SPG offers, I have concentrated on Hyatt for much of the past few months. No need to stay at Starwoods until I get targeted…seems like not staying is the only behavior which is rewarded.
This promotion was leaked by SPG rep almost a month ago already on flyertalk…

@canucklehead – thanks!
Starwood Lurker “leaked” this about a month ago on FT, so it was confirmed a long, long time ago
Just an FYI, Pizza In Motion also highlighted this on 13MAY: http://pizzainmotion.boardingarea.com/2015/05/13/starwood-summer-promo-includes-all-properties/
I got a targeted offer “Simply complete two stays between May 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015, to earn one Free Night Award at a Category 1–5 hotel or resort.” Is that stackable with this 1000 pts offer? Thanks.
@kira yes stackable, i got that offer also 🙂
1000 is better than 0 (no summer promotion from Marriott). Particularly as a 2 night SPG stay @ $200 only earns 400 points – so basically 2x or 3x bonus points on the lower rates.
Now of course we’d all prefer to see Hyatt FFNs and SPGs 2-stay = 1-resort night, but those days are long gone.
Thanks, Gary. I notice the T & C states “Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers are not combinable.” I find it hard to understand this. It says the offer is eligible with other promo but not combinable… contradictory…
