News and notes from around the interweb:
- Having just done the live chat on the SiriusXM website again, I’ll remind you that you can get all their channels for $5 or $6 per month by threatening to cancel so don’t ever pay them $29.99++ monthly. I’ve done this for about 20 years, making a calendar note about when ‘promotional pricing’ will end and then live chatting to extend or lower my pricing.
- Virgin Atlantic opens up household accounts to all members but these accounts are pretty restrictive and just transferring points is cheap in this program.
- With Hyatt putting confirmation of suite upgrade awards online, it is now possible to book an award into a suite when there’s suite availability but no standard room awards available.
Park Hyatt DC - On Friday I argued that Denver is a worse airport than Miami but I’m not so sure?
- World airlines ranked by most recent 12 months of revenue, as of the end of the most recent quarter. Delta is #1, United #2, American #3.
- After my experience on Delta returning to the gate to remove a passenger with an unauthorized dog, where they then allowed the passenger and dog back on board and we faced a long refueling delay, I submitted a customer service complaint because I was curious to see the response I’d get.
Well, what happened next was interesting. Just not very ‘premium’. I never received any response from Delta at all.
On a good day, Delta’s customer service is only slightly worse than the DMV. Usually it’s far worse.
Cancel SXM and then sign up for 3 mo for $1. Also, AMEX bus gold card gives you walmart+ for free and walmart + has a link for 6mo free SXM.
Headline says $3.99; text says $5-6?
@GARY: How is airline revenue defined? Credit card included?
Thanks! Just saved $15 a month!
@Gary, with Sirius it gets better if you actually do cancel and then ignore the next couple ofg discount offers. This is true of many subscription sites too, notably newspapers.
Interesting that IAG is listed as a single airline rather than the actual airlines that IAG controls.
You can do the 3 years for $99 then you set your reminder for every 3 years.
What exactly do people get out of Sirius anymore?
Best I get is 6.99
I thought everyone did this with XM radio. Being able to chat to get this deal is the best part.
Miami varies depending on the terminal, some are like third world countries (I’m looking at you Southwest) while others are great. Denver mostly sucks because of security, overcrowded United Clubs, One World lounges that are hidden away with bad restroom setups, and gates that are too small (like most airports).
