Sydney Airport’s Hilarious ‘Welcome to Melbourne’ Prank Leaves Passengers Wondering – Did I Get Off at the Wrong Stop?

If you’re flying to Sydney, you get off the plane, and you see this sign you’re going to check your glasses – are you seeing correctly?

Specsavers Optical Group is big in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, as well as Nordic countries. And the optometry chain has taken up an advertisement in the Sydney airport: “Welcome to Melbourne.”

Some passengers might actually think they’ve gotten off the wrong flight, especially if they’d looked out the window on final approach to Sydney and seen the home with “Welcome to Perth” on the roof.

That effort turns out to be inspired by the Welcome to Cleveland sign in Milwaukee on top of a home since 1978.

Landing in Sydney, by the way, always makes me think of this classic Paul Kelly song,
