Video Shows Military Storming Plane and Freeing Captive Flight Attendant
The passenger continued to hold the flight attendant in the galley even as the plane touched down, and even after all of the rest of the plane disembarked. Negotiators came on board while the military prepared to storm the plane.
Eventually the military came in through the cockpit’s escape window, entered the cabin through the cockpit door, and took down the passenger. The mission was a success because they managed to take the man without the flight attendant being harmed.
Flight Diverts After Passenger Takes Flight Attendant Hostage in Galley
Air China flight CA1350 from Changsha to Beijing diverted to Zhengzhou on Sunday after a passenger took a flight attendant hostage in the galley.
China’s Civil Aviation Administration says the passenger held a pen to the throat of the flight attendant, however other reports are that it was a knife.
FARE ALERT: Cheap Premium Economy Roundtrips Many US Cities to Europe (Delta, American)
American and British Airways, along with Delta and their partners, are offering premium economy roundtrips from the East and West Coasts to many cities in Europe starting at $753 roundtrip. That’s an incredible deal.
American Airlines Looking to Buy Used Airbus A319s
There was a lot of discussion at an American Airlines employee Q&A about the carrier’s fleet.
Airline President Robert Isom confirms that “Newer model used aircraft are absolutely something we have an eye out for. As we take a look at where 319s are available we’re gonna be out there after them, because we want ’em”
American Explains Why They Reduced Flight Attendant Staffing on Many International Flights
American is dropping a flight attendant from their Boeing 777-200s in March arguing that the ratio of flight attendants to economy passengers would be the same as before the retrofit product (dropping first class, adding premium economy).
American has more Boeing 777-200s than any other widebody aircraft, and they’re treating premium economy on that plane as economy from a service standpoint even though they’re marketing it as a premium product.
I Can’t Stop Watching This: Bad Landings and Go-arounds Set to Song
“You can always go around / If it don’t look right comin’ down.”
They say any landing you walk away from is a good landing. Unfortunately the last frame of the video is totally tasteless in my opinion, and ruins otherwise comedic genius (the Paris Air Show crash did not end well).
Delta Says They Want to Be the Launch Customer For the Boeing 797. Should We Believe Them?
Boeing has talked about a possible new “middle of the market” jet, something between the largest 737 and the new smaller 787 widebodies, since at least 2003. This plane would be a replacement for the Boeing 757.
It’s unofficially dubbed the ‘797’ and is expected to seat 220 – 270 passengers and fly up to 5,200 nautical miles.
Flights Cancelling Over Airbus A320neo Engine Problems
The Airbus A320neo or ‘new engine option’ was first delivered to Lufthansa in 2016. Over 6000 of the family have been ordered. The plane comes with either a CFM or Pratt & Whitney engine..
And the Pratt & Whitney version has problems. European air safety officials have issued emergency restrictions grounding affected aircraft after “several occurrences of engine in-flight shutdown.”
Air Traffic Control Fawns Over Monday’s American Flight Carrying the Superbowl Champion Eagles
After the Superbowl, the world champion Philadelphia Eagles were flown home on an American Airlines-charted Airbus A330-200.
Naturally they left late, though I’m surprised they were just 47 minutes behind. D0 just doesn’t apply to the Superbowl champions.
