DHS Secretary Kristi Noem suspended TSA PreCheck and Global Entry during the ongoing government shutdown, claiming it conserves staff—but TSA’s own documented findings clearly show the opposite. Eliminating expedited security means longer lines, increased staffing demands, and ultimately less-secure airports.
CLEAR is a paid program that’s supposed to solve this but the more successful CLEAR becomes, the less useful it is. CLEAR has long lines, too!

Departing Washington’s National airport on Friday, I passed by a family saying goodbye to each other at security. They hadn’t walked one family member into the airport for one last kiss.
