Sick Passenger Hallucinates Bomb On Board, United Airlines And Law Enforcement Scramble

Sunday evening’s United Airlines flight UA2304 from Los Angeles to Newark saw a significant police response on the tarmac, with luggage inspected and passengers eventually bused to the terminal, after a customer with a medical emergency apparently said there was a bomb on board while hallucinating.

If everyone was going to treat the hallucination as real, why couldn’t the passenger have had a vision of good service – or better yet that 2020 was over?

United Airlines Flight Attendants Reminded To Scold Passengers Who Drink Their Own Booze Inflight

Southwest Airlines has a problem with passengers bringing their own booze on board. So too, it seems, does United Airlines.

There’s a reason why liquor stores were considered an ‘essential business’ during coronavirus lock downs, and that same impetus has people bringing booze with them now that they can’t get any on a plane.

Why United Is Planning A Second Round Of Furloughs – For Pilots Only

United was first to publicly warn that a large number of its employees would be unneeded after CARES Act funding ends, because there’s less demand for travel so they’ll be running fewer flights. They were also first out with news of legally-required WARN Act notices for about 39% of employees, preparing to be able to furlough union workers once government subsidies end.

It turns out the airline isn’t done.

Inside The Snags United Airlines Hit Trying To Roll Out Its Cleanliness Programs

United scored a real marketing coup when they licensed Clorox’s name for their efforts. This week they promised to increase outside airflow during boarding and deplaning. And at the end of next week they’re slated to introduce a new cleaning technology into their cockpits.

However conversations with several airline executives paint a different picture of the airline’s investments. While on Monday CEO Scott Kirby said “I am going to keep encouraging our team to explore and implement new ideas, new technologies, new policies and new procedures that better protect our customers and employees,” I’m told they’ve even let go of the employee driving their cleaning technology projects as part of non-union their layoffs.

United Airlines Now Requires Face Masks In The Airport And For Two Year Old Children

Many airports already require face masks, but United is imposing the requirement now at airports themselves starting this Friday, July 24. They’re putting the same teeth of a potential travel ban in place for customers not wearing masks in areas of the terminal that they control.

The airline will also be requiring that masks be worn by all children two years old and older.

EEOC Is Suing United Because They Won’t Let Alcoholic Pilot Fly Without Attending AA

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit Monday against United Airlines arguing that they violated a pilot’s religious liberty by insisting he attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, arguing he should be permitted to substitute a Buddhist alternative.

In 2018 the entered an alcohol treatment facility and lost his pilot’s license. There’s a process to regain his license. This includes completing a substance abuse treatment program geared towards pilots. At United Airlines that includes attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and completing “at least the first five steps of AA’s 12-step programme.”
