Now You Can Enjoy United Business Class Meals at Home
United Airlines is reducing flight attendant staffing in their international widebody Polaris business class. Starting February 1, 2019 there will no longer be a dedicated flight attendant to work the galley preparing meals, and more meals will be pre-plated.
In the spirit of United no longer assigning a ‘mid-Galley’ flight attendant to cook meals, United is making their Polaris cookbook available for sale. That way you can cook your own meals!
United Introducing New ‘Pick Up Pan’ Drink Service for Short Flights
There’s a change in policy coming to short United effective January 1. Instead of trying to offer a full drink service to economy passengers, flights attendants will pre-pour a selection of beverages and place those onto a “pick up pan” for customers.
It’s a quicker drink service that is easier to complete and also means less choice for customers. Flight attendants will choose what to pour, though they’re encouraged to offer coffee on morning flights.
Alaska is Surveying Lounge Customers: Should They Partner With American, Delta, or United?
What’s Alaska’s path forward? It’s interesting to see their survey about what their customers want in airport lounge partnerships.
The airline is having customers compare features and membership price points for combining an Alaska Lounge membership with access to United Clubs, American Airlines Admirals Clubs, and Delta SkyClubs as well as with an unnamed partner lounge network.

United has announced a significant increase in international flying from San Francisco. Since CEO Oscar Munoz was talking to press, and it was being touted as ‘historic’, speculation abounded.
Several new routes and additional flights have been announced — but not even a single new destination for United.
American Airlines CEO: Firing Airline President Scott Kirby “Was One of the Worst Days of My Life”
At last week’s American Airlines employee town hall one flight attendant asked CEO Doug Parker whether he regrets American’s decision to let airline President Scott Kirby go and elevate Chief Operating Officer Robert Isom to the role of President. Kirby has since gone on to become United’s President.
