I wasn’t sure I’d feel at home at a ‘female empowerment hotel’ – but Hotel Zena (1) gave me a suite as a status upgrade, and (2) has a portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg that’s just awesome.

I Got A Suite Upgrade On A $163 Stay at Viceroy DC—But Breakfast Never Showed
A week ago I stayed at the Viceroy DC. The Viceroy brand participates in GHA Discovery. The hotel is part of the American Express Hotel Collection (and I had a two night stay, so eligible for benefits). And they had an amazing rate – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything as low as $163.35++ before.

Review: Hyatt’s Thompson Washington DC Hotel
Earlier this month I stayed at the Thompson Washington DC Hotel. It’s in a neighborhood where I haven’t spent much time before, and my first experience with the brand that Hyatt acquired when it acquired Two Roads Hospitality.
I didn’t have a fantastic stay at the property. I am not longing to return. But I’d absolutely stay here – for instance this would be my go-to pick if I had a meeting at the Department of Transportation, or for a leisure stay if I were going to a Nationals ballgame and wanted to use points.
The ‘No Pee Rule’ Returns to DC Airports For Alaska Airlines Flights
After 9/11 passengers on flights to Washington’s National airport were required to remain seated for the last 30 minutes of their trip, and for the first 30 minutes on any flight departing the airport.
Dubbed by frequent flyers the “no pee rule” it was meant to immediately identify anyone that might be trying to take over the aircraft when it was close enough that it could hit the White House, U.S. Capitol or other high value target. More than 30 minutes out, presumably, the government thought it would be able to shoot down the plane.

With state troops in D.C. staying at the Marriott Marquis, Arne Sorenson will have a tough time making claims to wokeness. Here are 5 facts about hotel stays for the National Guard troops in D.C.
Resort Fees are a Huge Lie, and Washington DC is Suing Marriott for a Refund
“Resort fees” are extra charges, on top of a room rate, that aren’t optional. In other words they’re part of the price of a room, but the hotel advertises a lower price instead. That’s on face deceptive.
Is Detroit Challenging Atlanta as the Most Corrupt Airport in the Country?
The airport’s former manager is in the midst of a federal criminal trial. James Warner is accused of “fabricating invoices, overcharging the airport for work performed by contractors and receiving more than $5 million worth of kickbacks during a four-year period” — which is even more than Detroit’s former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick took in payoffs.
DC’s Metro is So Bad People Are Leaving Their Cars and Walking to the Airport
As much as I miss the best Thai food in the country Metro is one of the things that makes me glad I’ve moved away. It’s perhaps the only thing in the area even worse than the airport’s gate 35X.
The Capital of a Small European Nation Figured Out How to Get The World Talking About a Visit
They call themselves the ‘g spot’ of Europe, “nobody knows where it is but when you find it, it’s amazing.”
Their quiz actually made me blush a little. Their things to do – like the National Gallery of Art – are described as “pleasure spots.”
Truth is though that while this isn’t likely to directly cause people to visit, it is likely to raise awareness for Vilnius, Lithuania.
