  1. Global Supertanker will not be missed in the wildland world. Fact is the 747 wasn’t flexible enough to be a legit tool for 99% of fires. Plus costs were astronomical compared even to the DC-10 VLAT. And you could only base them at McClellan AFB in Cali, where other tankers could be spread to dozens of airfields in the west.
