Transform Your Delta Flights: Air France KLM’s New Gold Status Match Offer For U.S. Flyers

Air France KLM Flying Blue will now status match customers in the U.S. and Mexico up to the Gold level, with status valid for 12 months. This is fantastic if you have a stash of bank points that transfer to miles, and great if you fly Delta as well.

It’s not a Platinum status match for U.S customers – so doesn’t gain access to first class award redemptions – but it’s still quite compelling. Flying Blue elites may also be eligible for status matches to other airlines.

For someone who flies Delta at most occasionally having airport priority and a discount on extra legroom seats is attractive, and a better phone customer service option for managing Flying Blue awards is as well. Along a certain margin it makes Air France KLM even more focal.

Air France KLM Flying Blue is a transfer partner of all of the major U.S. bank currencies, making their points easy to get, and their business class saver redemptions are intentionally reasonable. I have a large stash of their miles and Gold status from Bilt Platinum. Flying Blue is the most attractive program in SkyTeam. Unfortunately it does not confer lounge access on Delta domestic itineraries.

  1. So what does this get me on DL beyond what I already received with my LATAM status match? ST lounge access for international?

  2. Ironically Flying Blue Golds have better access to Skyclubs than Delta Golds. Flying Blue Golds have access to Delta Lounges when flying internationally on a coach fare, Delta Golds do not.

  3. @Boraxo
What did you get with your Latam status match, and how did that work?
I have Latam status, and would like to know.

  4. I don’t know if Gary would agree, but basically this is not a status match. Rather, Air France KLM sells status to get more revenue.

  5. Interesting… But for Silver, it’s not really worth it unless you live in a SkyTeam US hub and fly to/from southern Europe frequently.

Otherwise, better to just stick with the Star Alliance eco system.
