    The chip in your credit card is for both tap and insert. NFC comes from the “NFC enabled” chip.

    No, you cannot mount your EMV chip on a magic wand and use it to tap and pay. The “tap” function, which is a form of contactless payment, requires more than just the EMV chip. It also relies on an antenna built into the card, which is needed to communicate with the payment terminal. Simply removing the chip from a card and attaching it to a wand, even if you could somehow make it work physically, would not allow it to communicate with the payment terminal wirelessly.

    Someone in the reddit forum suggested dissolving the credit card by submersing it for 24 hours in dichloromethane, but you’ll need a safety hood and proper PPE to do that…
