• The fuel surcharges make using Emirates miles for long haul award travel on United a bad idea. Emirates Skywards has become such a poor program overall, sadly.

  You can book that exact same award through United for 62,600 miles (drops to 60k if you book a few weeks in advance) plus just $5.60.

• China causes foreign governments to investigate its dissidents living abroad for terrorism by booking hotels under their names and then having someone impersonate them to call in a bomb threat.
