Qatar has one of the best business class product in the world in its ‘QSuites’. These are revolutionary suites with doors and movable partitions that allow two and even four passengers to travel together in their own space. Right now there’s fantastic award availability booking for late summer and fall 2021 for Qatar’s QSuites product – out of several U.S. cities – with four business class seats available.

In the past it’s been possible but not easy to get (4) business class award seats on a single flight with QSuites. That’s special because it means you can be seated together in a section of four, take down dividers.

A friend this week flew to Doha with just half a dozen passengers in the Qatar Airways business class cabin. He offered ‘check out Chicago availability’. Here’s availability for four Qatar Airways business class award seats Chicago – Doha in September:
Just as interesting, here’s connecting award space for four in business class. This doesn’t show all available routes, just where American Airlines saver award space is also available from Chicago to the connecting city, but shows that four business seats are available through many other Qatar Airways gateways. This includes New York JFK, Boston, Houston, Washington Dulles, Miami, Dallas Fort-Worth, and Philadelphia.
This is a fantastic chance to redeem miles for one of the world’s best business classes. You may want to visit Doha, I recommend a couple of days and definitely seeing the Museum of Islamic Art. However it’s also a great connecting point for India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and elsewhere.
In general American AAdvantage miles are best for redeeming long haul business class travel on Qatar. American charges 70,000 miles each way for business class between the US and the Mideast or Indian Subcontinent.
- American also lets you connect in Doha to Africa on Qatar on a single award redemption for 75,000 miles each way.
- Connections between Asia and Africa, between Europe and Asia, and between Europe and South Pacific are permitted on Qatar with a single award redemption. These are additional exceptions to American’s usual rule that you cannot fly between two regions via a third region.
British Airways (Chase, American Express transfer partner) can book Qatar Airways seats with fuel surcharges. Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles (American Express, Citi transfer partner) can as well.
Thanks as always Gary. Love the idea of connecting to another region in order to enjoy more time in QSuites. I doubt it’s possible, but any way to start from the US, connect in Doha, to go to Europe on one award? You mentioned connecting from Europe to Asia, and Europe to the South Pacific so I’m guessing those are the only 2 valid connections to/from Europe but figured I’d ask since I can’t find a definitive answer. Thanks!
Fallout over the recent complementary inspections they offer? Not sure I could convince the wife.
I didn’t think the 777 on the ORD route had Q Suites?
Qatar is currently closed to foreign citizens, so visiting Doha isn’t an option now.
@Jeff – I’m writing about availability 10 months from now.
Thanks for the post. Just booked PHL-DOH-CPT RT in business through AA. AA was able to book all seats, including window biz seats, EXCEPT the Q-SUITE seats. Called QA and rep told me those seats aren’t able to be reserved with AA awards. Do you know anything about this or has anyone had issues choosing business seats with award travel on QA?
Unfortunately via AA miles, if you’re going to MLE via DOH it’s all in Sri Lanken via economy class. Even though there are flights/awards on Qatar. Oh well, if you don’t mind spending 4-8 hours in CMB.
As a follow up to my 11/12 post, ticketed PHL-DOH-CPT.rt for September 2021. Called QA and they confirmed 3E/3F (Q-Suites “double bed”) on all 4 legs. Pretty good redemption for 300K AA miles! Thanks for original post.
