With the third Star MegaDO approaching in little more than a month, frequent flyers are talking about what a oneworld version of the event might look like.
Maya Leibman, the President of American’s AAdvantage program, chimed into the discussion.
Wow – how cool is this!? We can’t wait for our first (and sure to be the best) Mega DO. You definitely have to come to DFW – we’ll take you through the SOC, the flight training academy (simulators), the tower and more. And whether in DFW or Toulouse, Airbus will definitely love to show you the new aircraft we’re buying (youngest fleet in 5 years baby).
She says they won’t actually give Executive Platinum to everyone who shows up (Hyatt is giving all participants to who stay in the official hotels for the event Diamond status…) but she promises “we’ll definitely do something you’ll like.”
With the President of oneworld’s largest frequent flyer program personally onboard, it’ll be something to look forward to. And I’ve got to love the competitive spirit, wanting to outdo the events hosted with the Star Alliance…
While I’m not a OW FFer, that would still be a fun DO!
To be fair, in the Star Mega DO, UA is not giving status away either (just basically double/triple EQM from what I understand). Now, if AA partners up with Starwood and Starwood gives away Plat for a year….and AA hopefully gives some EVIPs….that would better than the offers on the Star Mega-DO 😉

Why stop there, SkyTeam Mega DO too! All participants get conscierge treatment to book any awards they want at the lowest mileage level…cough
Its about time! And its in the Big D where the ‘Boys are(we have 2 be there during game time). Hyatt is GREAT! Low level status would be nice from AA (I know).
How about a one level bump in status for AA to get all us loyal PLTs a taste of EXP and see why we need to fly all over the place and give away money to AA to maintain that status!
Note the difference between:
A. “we’ll definitely do something you’ll like.”
B. “we’ll definitely do something WE THINK you’ll like.”
Its about time for Oneworld to get in the game on this. I’ll be there. Hopefully other Oneworld counterparts to Maya will be there as well to tell us what they see when they look into their cyrstal ball for Oneworld. Since I’m already EXP CK, a few evips would be nice!
I would be very interested. I’m a *A and due to work schedules can’t do the Mega Do. I will have over 100K this year with CO but like to keep my options open. I’m looking forward to hearing (reading) more.

A oneword DO would be great, though I’d love for it to be over the weekend instead of during the week.

For those of us business travelers who are at the mercy of our companies M-F, a weekend opportunity to fly to Dallas would be great!
A tour of the Airbus facility is worth pushing them to DO IT. The sooner the better. Combined with a behind the scene look at AA in Dallas it would be a killer of a trip. Sign me up NOW.
