Westin Times Square Honoring $60 Rate

clayd333 shares the following email from the Westin Times Square (that I have since verified that others who booked the rate have received as well):

Dear Westin New York Guest:

Thank you for choosing The Westin New York at Times Square.

Our records indicate that you have booked the Renew Your Soul package for your upcoming stay.

Please be advised that this special offer is limited to single occupancy and is valid for the dates confirmed at time of booking. Any changes in dates, number of occupants or room type will result in a rate change and render the $60.00 rate null and void in accordance with hotel room modification policy.

For assistance or for more information, please contact us at mars.01380@westin.com or call 212-201-4649 and select option 5.

Kind regards,

Reservations Department
The Westin New York at Times Square

So as I had predicted:

[T]his only comes up when searching for 1 person per room. If this is ultimately honored (don’t buy non-refundable airfare just yet!) then they well could enforce the one person per room limit. So if you are two people, you might want to book two rooms as a precaution.

(Emphasis mine.)

Congratulations to everyone getting to stay in a prime New York City location for only $60 plus tax per night. And remember you’ll also get a $10 minibar credit, an in-room movie, a $10 Metrocard, and a $10 coffee card.

  1. I had called them a few days ago and they added a second person to the reservation. Although it still says 1 room, 1 adult, the email starts with Dear Mr and Mrs …..

Same goes with on the spg website. It still says Mr and Mrs as I called them and they said both names are on the reservation.

    What are your thoughts?

  2. I could be wrong…but, I thought I remembered Starwood Lurker posting on Flyertalk that domestic properties have to allow 2 people in rooms. Of course, European properties are different.

  3. I bet there are going to be a lot of complimentary “welcome to Westin” knocks on these doors.

  4. As I noted on FT, it seems that checking in with one’s spouse at 4 p.m. under this rate is verboten, but there’d be no problem picking up a hooker and bringing her back to the room at midnight!

  5. Thanks for posting! Just a question – Would it be possible to check in with a different credit card/ID? I wonder if they would enforce the same-as-card-holder policy for the room that is paid already. Thanks!

  6. you guys are thinking way too much. just have only one person check in, shit, they don’t go door to door checking in and tucking in, idiots

  7. I must have missed the original memo. Did they make an advertizing bobo and get caught with their pants down? Can’t find any links to the original. God forbid that a hotel chain would commit an error usually reserved for airlines.

  8. @cook:

You could click the link above that says: “So as I had predicted:” — it brings you back to the original post.

  9. I don’t think people are necessarily thinking way too much. In some international properties one person per room is enforced particularly when you have to leave your keys with reception when you leave. For a large US property like this it’s no issue though.
