[T]his only comes up when searching for 1 person per room. If this is ultimately honored (don’t buy non-refundable airfare just yet!) then they well could enforce the one person per room limit. So if you are two people, you might want to book two rooms as a precaution.

So when my wife comes to the room after I check in, how will they know?? Groan.
I had called them a few days ago and they added a second person to the reservation. Although it still says 1 room, 1 adult, the email starts with Dear Mr and Mrs …..
Same goes with on the spg website. It still says Mr and Mrs as I called them and they said both names are on the reservation.
What are your thoughts?
Call and remove the 2nd person. Just sneak em in.

Sneaking in will be easy – it’s a very busy property. Just text your #2 your room number and have them meet you upstairs.
I could be wrong…but, I thought I remembered Starwood Lurker posting on Flyertalk that domestic properties have to allow 2 people in rooms. Of course, European properties are different.
I bet there are going to be a lot of complimentary “welcome to Westin” knocks on these doors.
As I noted on FT, it seems that checking in with one’s spouse at 4 p.m. under this rate is verboten, but there’d be no problem picking up a hooker and bringing her back to the room at midnight!

I must have missed the original memo. Did they make an advertizing bobo and get caught with their pants down? Can’t find any links to the original. God forbid that a hotel chain would commit an error usually reserved for airlines.

I don’t think people are necessarily thinking way too much. In some international properties one person per room is enforced particularly when you have to leave your keys with reception when you leave. For a large US property like this it’s no issue though.
