Registration for April’s Frequent Traveler University is Now Open

On Monday I shared the dates for April’s Frequent Traveler University event: April 26-28 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.

There’s an upcoming (sold out) Frequent Traveler University at the Sheraton LAX, November 30 – December 2.  Four hundred folks will be attending to talk about frequent flyer miles earning and burning with Ben Schlappig of the One Mile at a Time blog, Frequent MilerMileValuePizza in MotionMillion Mile Secrets, and Wandering Aramean. And talking talking travel with Cranky Flierand representatives of loyalty programs. And the incomparable Randy Petersen.

The lineup of speakers isn’t yet set for April. I’m charged with putting together the program, and won’t be firming things up until after the Los Angeles event. But I already have commitments from Ben Schlappig of One Mile at a Time again, and from Mommy Points.

You can buy tickets here. (There is some program detail appearing on that page, listing speakers, that isn’t up to date and includes information from a prior event — that will be fixed shortly — for now just trust that there will be some of the biggest names in miles and points attending.)

The $100 registration fee includes Friday evening’s cocktail reception and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. And the opportunity to meet fellow frequent flyer enthusiasts and learn from each other as well as top speakers sharing many of the tricks that often aren’t discussed on blogs or in frequent flyer forums.

There’s a special booking link to receive the $89 group rate at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner.

I hope to meet many of you there!

  1. […] FTU is is an event similar to the recent Chicago Seminars in which hundreds of frequent flyer addicts get together to learn insider travel tips, to network, and to have fun.  Last Spring, FTU was held in New Jersey.  This weekend it will be in Los Angeles (at the LAX Sheraton Gateway hotel).  Next, in the Spring of 2013, FTU will be held in the D.C. area (details here). 1. Seems to me that there is no shuttle service between
either of the 2 airports and the hotel.
    Am I right ?
    Michael

  2. @michael thaler – hotel website advertises complimentary shuttle within 3 miles of the hotel, which would provide access to public transportation, but this is not an airport hotel so no direct airport shuttle provided free by the property

  3. Is there any other way to buy tickets… not one of my three (European) credit cards seem to be of any use and get declined…

  4. I’m getting a message that says the group rate requested is unavailable. Is the special rate sold out already?

  5. Sorry, my mistake. I was trying to book a third night to stay on the 28th … checking out on the 29th. The rate comes up for stays on the 26th and 27th. Looking forward to meeting you! I attended my first Chicago Seminars this year and am now looking forward to my first FTU!

  6. How many tickets in total are being sold for the event? Finding it kinda hard to commit so far out, so was wondering if you’ll give us heads up when the tickets begin to dry out?

  7. @MidTierStatus — we’re committed to 400 but can still take an additional ballroom and grow the event further, need to make that decision soon, but will certainly provide an update

  8. Will be flying to Europe on those days. Hope there will be another one in the summer or fall.

  9. I’m all booked for the event (registration, flights, and car rental). The host hotel only had $139/night available in the Executive floors (with full breakast and free internet). If someone is interested in sharing a room, please contact me. I’m @bayareaplanner on Twitter. I’m also available to give rides from IAD (flight arrives Friday at 4pm) to hotel and back to the airport (leaving hotel Sunday at 3pm).

  10. If there is anyone that has:

ONE EXTRA TICKET for this April’s FTU Event in Washington, DC…

I would love to buy it from you if you can’t make it. If you may know of anyone that has an extra, I would appreciate forwarding my information to them. I would love to go and bring back any feedback that may help people decide whether to attend in the future.

I can pay you immediately via paypal or whatever. personette@gmail.com

    Thanks – John
