London Airport Workers Call Off This Weekend’s Strike

Airlines were making contingency plans to keep their employees away from London airports Friday and Saturday, and some were letting customers change their travel plans without a fee. It’s Wednesday and folks didn’t know whether they’d be able to fly in two days because of a strike by airport workers.

Fortunately the strike for this Friday and Saturday has been called off. Workers will vote on a new contract.

There are still 48 hour strikes on the schedule for August, the status of which will depend on whether a new deal is approved before then.

Meanwhile British Airways pilots have voted to strike, and beaten back a legal challenge to that plan. So London passengers may still be in for a very rough back half of summer.

  1. ‘London airport workers’? I think you mean London Heathrow workers. The other London airports (Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Southend) were not affected by this.
