Left On The Hook, British Airways Supplier Sells Its 100th Anniversary Gin

Airline catering suppliers are facing tremendous amounts of stock just sitting in warehouses. Some will sell you their meals to eat at home. American Airlines stopped buying first class nuts, so those are sitting in Dallas and are now for sale online. And, it turns out, British Airways 100th anniversary gin is being offloaded at a discount, too.

Pickering’s Gin has a case of British Airways gin miniatures marked down 62%.

CDC Quietly Drops 14 Day Quarantine Guideline For International Travelers

The C.D.C. though has finally recognized we’re no longer in the containment stage of the pandemic, where the virus might sneak into the country from abroad. So they’ve quietly lifted their recommendation that any travelers entering the U.S. quarantine for 14 days.

After all, unless passengers are coming from Chile, Peru, Brazil, India and a few other places they’re much less likely to be carrying the virus than people who are already here.

In Hong Kong, Morning Airport Arrivals Take Less Than An Hour From Landing To Negative Covid Test (Don’t Show Up In Afternoon)

Back in May the process for entering Hong Kong was one of the most excruciating things I’ve seen in travel, taking the better part of a day. It involved being bused to the EXPO Center, long waits for testing and results, and receiving a monitoring bracelet.

While transit has opened up in some cases, the process for actually entering Hong Kong is still stringent – but has been substantially streamlined.

American Airlines Goes After ‘Hidden City Ticketing’: New Revenue-Raising Initiative?

Right now airlines will take any money they can, and employees may be looking for metrics and wins to justify their jobs, so it doesn’t surprise me – whether corporate policy or individual initiative – to see the airline going after violations that can extract incremental revenue, and to do it in a way that maximizes likelihood of payment.

Pennsylvania’s ‘Airport For No One’ Can’t Fill Eight Seat Planes, Wants United Express Regional Jets

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington named the late John Murtha one of the most corrupt members of Congress, in part for earmarking government money for campaign contributors. His legacy, though, is the John Murtha Johnstown–Cambria County Airport, the ‘airport for no one’ which – before the Covid-19 pandemic – saw an average of 17 passengers per day.

The airport wants to kick out the incumbent airline and bring in SkyWest – which promises 50 seat regional jets to Chicago and Washington, DC.
