25% Transfer Bonus from Citibank to Turkish Miles & Smiles Through February 20

Citibank added Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles as a transfer partner a year and a half ago. That means plenty of people have access to Turkish frequent flyer miles.

Now they’re running a 25% transfer bonus to Turkish through February 20.

It’s worth a reminder as well that Turkish Airlines offers some great award redemptions year-round. They add fuel surcharges onto redemptions, their pricing is very reasonable. Just told tell anyone you’re a Gülenist when you redeem your points.

  • They charge 90,000 miles roundtrip between the US and Turkey — or anywhere in Europe — in business class. They charge 98,000 miles roundtrip between the US and North Africa via Istanbul.

  • Asia or South Africa is 135,000 miles roundtrip in business class.

  • Turkish Miles & Smiles also offers companion award tickets for fewer miles in conjunction with a paid ticket, e.g. US – Istanbul at 63,000 miles roundtrip.

  1. I’d love a first hand report of all the steps if your award booking service does this for someone. Cc: Tiffany Funk

  2. I cant believe a serious company like CitiBank is working with the airline that tranferred 40,000 Jihadis from around the world to Turkey and from there to Syria to join ISIS

  3. @ Gary — What do you mean by the Gulenist comment? Is there some secret here I don’t understand?

  4. They have been unable to issue UA or AC awards for the past couple of months. There are reports of people having a lot of difficulty redeeming on other partners though it can be done eventually. AV might be the better choice as no surcharges and you can see whats available via their website.

  5. @Gary – How quickly do miles transfer from Citi to Turkish?

Also, are the rates you gave for Star Alliance in general or only when flying on Turkish?

    Thanks.
