Rocketmiles is offering a 3000 United mile bonus for making a first hotel booking through the site. That’s in addition to the normal miles earned for a booking.
The offer is for new accounts opened after October 14 that make a booking by November 30 and complete the hotel stay by April 1. This is a one-time bonus, mileage offers displayed on the website do not include the 3000 miles which will be added separately after the fact.
Loyalty Lobby implies that you can get this 3000 mile first booking bonus and the 1000 mile bonus for being referred by an existing member (“You can access this offer page here and you can get 1,000 additional bonus miles for first booking by signing up using the link here.”). I’m not so sure that’s correct.
When Rocketmiles offered 3000 bonus miles with JetBlue for first hotel booking, I confirmed with a co-founder of the site that that bonus wasn’t stackable with the 1000 mile bonus for being referred. I would not count on that additional 1000 miles without greater clarity form the site.
I had had a referral bonus to offer of 2000 miles (in other words, I was foregoing my 1000 mile referral credit and arranged to have it given to you instead), unfortunately that was made available to me only through mid-July. Now when you sign up through my link we each get 1000 miles after your first booking as the standard referral offer.
Rocketmiles now features over 100 cities — they don’t have hotels everywhere, and have a limited set of hotels in each city. That’s about triple the size they were when I first wrote about then ~ 5 months ago.
I’d expect United to have the biggest signup offers, as they’ve made a strategic investment in Rocketmiles (concommitantly, competitor site PointsHound lost its United partnership).
We can all use a whole bunch more United miles to make up for the big MileagePlus devaluation that’s going into effect February 1.
