In May 1981 American AAdvantage and United Mileage Plus launched the modern era of frequent flyer programs. American was first out of the chute by a couple of days.
Now American is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the AAdvantage program with Miles for Milestones.
Through June 1 you can enter for a chance to win 350,000 miles.
Then tell them what you’re going to do with your miles (via dropdown box) for 350 free miles.
And earn another 350 miles by either:
- Posting a pre-populated message to Facebook
- Sharing a story to twitter with the hashtags #MilesForMilestones and #Promotion. After doing so you receive a mention from @AmericanAir with a link that you can use to submit your AAdvantage number for the miles.
- Send a story about a milestone trip by email to milesformilestones -at- aa.com describing the trip.
Celebrating their birthday by giving gifts to others feels like a tzedakah — the way I was taught to show gratitude and thanks towards others on my birthday when I was in preschool and elementary school. So mazal tov, AAdvantage, and l’chaim! An easy 700 miles, at least.

In my excitement, I had all the kids do this, too. E’hem did not read terms, which obviously state 18+. That would really suck if they won but couldn’t claim the prize!
