IATA’s New Distribution Capability is a standard for how airline tickets will be sold, providing data in an XML format that will allow sellers of air travel to sell more than just tickets but potentially all of a carrier’s ancillary products and services.
Japanese Star Alliance carrier ANA is partnering with a company called OpenJaw Technologies to implement the IATA NDC standard.
OpenJaw’s miles redemption platform provides for both “Transparent and Opaque. Dynamic Pricing” for revenue-based redemption. We do not yet know that ANA will implement this however they may soon have the technology to do so.

Currently ANA Mileage Club, an American Express transfer partner, offers one of the best award charts in the world to go along with access to Star Alliance partner inventory. Hopefully they do not make the mistake of following their transpacific joint venture partner United. Even if United can get away with an opaque devaluation because Delta has already done so, and they expect American to follow, the Asian market is different.

Wow what do I do with my 300k+ MR points then …
This would be horrible. I favor MR over any other bank currency just to transfer to ANA.
Get that disease of an opaque, dynamic pricing award system hundreds of meters away from our Asian FFPs!
@asian miler — if American follows United and Delta, and another major carrier in Europe follows Air France, then it’s certainly going to come to Asia [and indeed Air New Zealand was one of the first and that’s at least Pacific..]
