Following up on my post about great opportunities to fly U.S. – Europe in business class on Iberia using American, Alaska, or British Airways miles, I wanted to highlight another opportunity for business class awards at the saver level. It’s still possible to use miles at great value for the best awards!
Singapore Airlines doesn’t just fly to Singapore. They have two routes that operate between the U.S. and Europe (offering continuing service to Singapore, but you can use these flights to travel on a top-notch carrier just to Europe if you wish).
Right now there’s incredible award availability if you want to redeem for these flights. You’ll need to use Singapore Airlines miles – miles in partner programs like United and Air Canada Aeroplan won’t be able to access the seats – but if you have points in a credit card program you’re all set. Chase, American Express, Citi, and Capital One points transfer to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer.
Here’s May availability for New York JFK – Frankfurt, two passengers in business class. Most dates are available – including for months prior.
Here’s May availability for Houston – Manchester, two passengers in business class. Singapore offers service five days a week and most dates are available – including for months prior.
While Singapore Airlines is devaluing the KrisFlyer award chart July 5, and you can still book now under old pricing, U.S. – Europe is one of the routes where price increases are most modest. One-way business class awards in this case go from 85,000 miles to 87,500 miles. Singapore does not add fuel surcharges to award tickets on its own flights.
If you want to include connecting flights you can do so on Star Alliance airlines you can do so using Singapore’s Star Alliance award chart.
LX-Sun wide open for March (only month I checked).
It’s 100k via Alaska. Seemed worth the premium not yo transfer miles to Sin given they expire and it’s a speculative booking.
Does AS allow US-Europe flights through mileage plan?
Actually, AS is cheaper than SQ for LAX-Sin in J nonstop.
Hi Gary
What website/app do you use to view you the calendar availability like you have in your article? Thanks!
@Owen – that’s awardnexus.com [pay service]
@Gary – thank you for the quick reply! Im gonna sign up and check it out.
Im desperately looking to redeem via Singapore Airlines Krisflyer, 2x business class one-way flights on 3/8 (or as close too) from anywhere in Europe back to Singapore.
Happy to fly from anywhere in Europe (that SQ services – https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/plan-travel/destinations/where-we-fly/) i.e. Zurich, Frankfurt, Paris, Barcelona back to Singapore.
Have waitlisted for multiple flights / routes but can’t get anything :((( – have managed to get to Europe but can’t get back yet!
Would AwardNexus be your go-to tool in finding something like this or is there a better one specific to the above?
Thanks so much if you have any any advice on this.
