Delta Business Class Award Space To Europe Open From New York And Salt Lake City

Two days ago there was Delta business class award space to Zurich and now there’s space from New York JFK to Amsterdam and from Salt Lake City to both Paris and Amsterdam in business class for two passengers for January through March. This was first spotted by Thrifty Traveler‘s premium airfare deal alert service.

You’re not going to want to book these Delta awards at extortionate Delta SkyMiles pricing. Instead you will book these through Delta’s partner Virgin Atlantic.

Note when searching for New York JFK – Amsterdam that there’s award space for fewer miles (48,500) but that’s connecting availability through Paris and incurs surcharges. Slightly more expensive mileage space is through London on Virgin and connecting onto Amsterdam and the cash outlay is extortionate. So it’s the 50,000 mile seats you likely want for Delta’s product.

Note also that there are days where 48,500 mile seats are available on this calendar that also have the 50,000 mile Delta seats.

There are only a handful of dates where Salt Lake City – Paris and Salt Lake City – Amsterdam are available, and let’s be clear this is very much off-season, but this is Delta and Salt Lake folks never get a break from Delta so it’s worth flagging for them.

Here’s Salt Lake City – Paris for 2 passengers in business class:

And Salt Lake City – Amsterdam:

Note of course that trips to Amsterdam and to Paris can have onward connections elsewhere in Europe added, making these especially useful to a number of potential destinations.

By the way here’s Delta’s award calendar for Salt Lake City – Paris, including dates where you can book Delta flights for just 50,000 miles in business class. Truly SkyMiles has no respect for its members.

At 50,000 miles of course this is a good deal even going to Europe when most people prefer not to – though honestly I rather like Paris in January, not so many American teenagers.

  1. @ Gary — You and me both. I love Paris in Jan and Feb for the cool weather and smaller crowds.

  2. Is there *anything* that can be booked with Delta miles too? I have a massive stash of SkyPesos and it seems crazy having to use Virgin Points to fly Delta

  3. Gary can you write up a post on how to date Jewish women? Will they be impressed by my million mile AAdvantage balance?

  4. I got SkyPesos via credit card offer years ago. And have NEVER found a use for them until earlier this year, and I’ve been looking. I managed to find a flight for 35k and minimal fees from Flyover to LGA to YYZ to Dublin. So Delta-Delta-WestJet. It’s economy and it’s one of my kids, so it’s a good use of the miles, as it positions them to start making their trips from Europe, where they’re a student. And the flight was on one day of the month only, but it was exactly on the date it needed to be. So yeah, I got lucky.

Just topped up my SkyPesos to a nice round 50k with a recent portal offer, so can buy something at that level, but it might take years to find it.

Been finding some decent values on AA for domestic flights for the kids. $200 flights for 6.5k or 7.5k, which is a pretty good ROR. Even did some positioning flights for SO and myself. Unfortunately, award tickets aren’t upgradable until EP status, but that’s coming if things go right.

  5. @ Gary. I agree. I had CDG layovers. January and February are great times to visit Paris since many of the attractions in or close to Paris are the museums and palaces.
