News and notes from around the interweb:
- Can you survive in an abandoned city?
X keeps serving me this video so I succumbed
The premise is that Mr Beast and crew are helicoptered into an abandoned city and have to survive for 7 days, seems like a fun concept…
but I recognized the “abandoned city” as Kupari Croatia, which is neither abandoned nor a city,… https://t.co/3rxH0mer4n pic.twitter.com/4rrHQShe3v

- New Spirit AeroSystems CEO may be frontrunning to become new Boeing CEO and the company is considering a move of its headquarters back to Seattle – which would matter both symbolically and actually place its executives closer to manufacturing.

- This incident is making the rounds again Here’s the context:
This incident took place on December 18, 2019, in Turkey, involving Nikar D. on a flight from Istanbul to Cyprus. She caused panic among passengers by claiming to be associated with FETÖ and threatening to detonate a bomb on the plane. FETÖ refers to the Fethullahist Terrorist… pic.twitter.com/mh8AiEOVx6

- The correct response is not merely to tweet, it’s to write an actual song about the incident.
Truly devastated by the damage done by @Delta to my 20 year old martin guitar. So many memories just gone. Absolutely beyond devastated. Please repost. @Delta needs to be held responsible. pic.twitter.com/GBrMg2RmZG

Meanwhile, 4 and 5 years later, many Delta elites who hit the million mile club over the pandemic have yet to receive anything.
I remember standing in line for secondary security check in Hong Kong talking to the gentleman in front of me. We were both 1K travelers and with all of his travel over the years he was never able to reach Global status. This flight he would pass four (4) million miles and would become Global status. We were laughing about the circumstances. As we flew home to San Francisco there was never any celebration or recognition of his milestone. Times to change.
Is your child watching Mr Beast? Didn’t think you were part of the demographic choosing to watch Mr Beast in the absence of a child’s influence?
I get a crazy amount of requests to transport Mr Beast chocolate bars.
@GUWonder – certainly not!
She’s still at an age where we guide her viewing. We’ll see how long that lasts!
I’m glad UA is recognizing million milers now (though the guy in that tik tok hit it right on the nose: million miler “and still sitting back here (in coach).” A friend of mine hit it last week in Denver, had an airport escort, driven to his gate, etc. I hit million miler about 10 years ago on UA and got zero recognition.

Because United Airlines was previously known for breaking guitars, to be competitive, I hope Delta Air Lines offered this passenger a complimentary roll of aircraft speed tape to help patch up this damaged guitar. This token of kindness and 1,000 SkyMiles should help keep Delta Air Lines in the leadership position as a premium airline.
Señor Leff,
Best of luck with that and on the next generation challenging you on your position on censorship. [YouTube is both great and awful, as in a lot of kids seem awfully addicted to it and personal electronic devices.]
Now back to waiting for the credit card advertisement that best covers any damage of the family phones in possession of young children.
I learned today who MrBeast is. Rarely do I regret new knowledge. Today, I worry what useful knowledge that displaced.
Wait… Are you telling me that an “influencer” on social media is misleading people. I’m shocked — SHOCKED I tell you!
How will I sleep tonight?
