Wow: Free Hilton Honors Gold Status For Everyone, Courtesy Of Bilt Rewards

Several months ago Hilton became a Bilt Rewards transfer partner and you shouldn’t care (don’t ever transfer Bilt points to Hilton at 1:1), except that this means from time to time they’ll make really cool offers for Bilt’s monthly Rent Day. And that day has come.

October 1 all Bilt members can sign up for Hilton Honors Gold status and a status challenge for Diamond, and anyone can join Bilt for free which means that everyone who pays attention gets Hilton Gold.

  • On October 1 you can activate Hilton Gold valid through December 31
  • Stay 8 nights before December 31, 2024 keep Gold through March 31, 2026.
  • Stay 14 nights before December 31, 2024 for Diamond through March 31, 2026 (but Bilt Platinums only need to stay 10 nights)

Hilton Gold gets you a food and beverage credit at U.S. hotels and breakfast at international properties. You may get an upgrade, though hotels aren’t obligated to upgrade to suites. Late check-out is not guaranteed with Hilton status. As my grandfather used to say, it’s better than a luch in cup (hole in the head). And Diamond doesn’t get you materially much more than Gold.

They’re also offering happy hours at Hilton properties for Bilt members on October 1, with spots bookable in the Bilt app on October 1 (11:50 a.m. Eastern for Platinum members, Noon for everyone else).

Additional Rent Day offers include,

  • Once again Virgin cruises buy one get one 100% off, like the past two months and they say this is the last one.
  • Targeted offers, some members receive 10x rewards on restaurant spend at participating places or a bonus when redeeming points for rent (don’t do this even with the bonus)
  • A continuation of their fixed price curated tasting menus at several restaurants ($100 or 5,000 points per person, bookable September 27 at 11:50 for Bilt Platinums and Noon Eastern for others).
  • Double points spending on the Bilt co-brand card (including 6x on dining, 4x on travel) but only up to 1,000 bonus points, this excludes rent payments and tax payments no longer count either.
  • SoulCycle rides and the Family Feud-style game show to earn free rent but this month there’s also 500,000 Hilton points as part of the prize.

You can’t turn your nose up at free status. Literally everyone can have Gold status, at least for a few months. All you need to do is join Bilt Rewards if you haven’t already, and then activate status in their app.

  1. Well – anyone that signs up needs to understand that they aren’t elite. Yes they are Gold and there are certain benefits (forget any upgrades but you get the food credit and more points on a stay) but, as the old saying goes, “when everyone is elite no one is elite”. I’ve been Diamond for around 25 years and that rarely gets you any real benefit (at least in the US). Don’t get me wrong – I am not one of those annoying “but I’m a Diamond” people that whines to the front desk clerk when they don’t get an upgrade they feel they “deserve”. I’ll take the rare upgrade but never expect it. Simply too many Diamonds, especially with ability to get with just a credit card, and if there are too many Diamonds you know Gold doesn’t mean anything.

Assume Bilt is, once again, trying to buy members as I’m sure they subsidize this with Hilton to some extent. I still contend Bilt will be gone in 2-3 years as the business model simply isn’t viable long term and I wouldn’t be surprised if Wells doesn’t find a way to get out of their agreement (which is losing them money while they have many other things to focus on).

  2. Wow can’t wait to load up on a luxurious generous breakfast with my new Gold status
Steak & eggs followed by oj and fresh waffles anybody?

  3. @AC, you might not be one of those “annoying “but I’m a Diamond” people that whines to the front desk clerk when they don’t get an upgrade they feel they “deserve”” people, but you sure like to let everyone on here know how elite you are whether it be your status or your previous job(s), etc. You like to put it out there.
