“Sit Yourself Down”: 6’6 Man Stops Passenger Who Twice Escaped Restraints After Racist Rampage

A Breeze Airways A220 took off from Norfolk, Virginia, bound for Los Angeles on Wednesday. About four hours into the journey, a 46‑year‑old L.A. man started waving his skateboard, spewing racial slurs, targeting passengers of color.

The crew slapped restraints on him. Twice. He broke free both times. The second time, a 6’6″ ex-football player on the flight manhandled him back down like a toddler into a car seat. “Sit your ass down,” he apparently told the man,

@mysaltylove_ Replying to @House Ok so here’s the OG video w/out the sound over it. Everyone needed to hear “SITCHOASSDOWN CUH!” #jet2holiday #breezeairways #MX704 ORF TO LAX #mysaltylove ♬ original sound – ⭕️MYSALTYLOVE⭕️

The flight diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado, where local police took the man into custody. A flight attendant and passenger were treated for minor injuries.

Breeze Airways issued the usual “crew and guest well-being is our top priority” statement. Charges against the man will be handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Colorado.

We’ve seen a passenger booted for racist texts and even one who defecated on a drink cart and blamed Portugal’s President. But the Breeze Airways incident is ultimately special because it combines racially-motivated aggression, broken restraints, an actual physical takedown, and a flight diversion all in one narrative arc.

  1. “The man was drunk” says the news person. Another way of excusing pathetic behavior. I loved how the big man literally picked him up and sat him down. You could see the fear in the guy’s face being carried away. I applaud the big guy for making his point: sit down and shut up or the next time won’t be so nice.

  2. Ah, peak-VFTW content! An onboard fight, race, etc. See, folks, not always on Spirit. Good news, @George Romey, they pressed charges. Lemme guess, you’d’ve preferred less due process, more instant, forever no-fly-list?

  3. Middle America really should not be allowed to travel by any means other than by foot or by bus.

  4. Hey @LadyOlives: since when is LA part of middle America? The offender lives in Los Angeles. So, perhaps what you really meant is that Angelinos shouldn’t be allowed to travel by any means other than by foot or by bus? They did vote in an idiot as mayor, so I’m inclined to agree with your statement as far as where the racist perp is from.

  5. @AngryFlier & @LadyOlives — Easy, you two. There’s plenty of bigots all over. And, no, neither LA nor Kansas is the problem; it’s the individual jabroni to blame. No need to disparage entire cities or other groups of peoples.

  6. And a liberal DA will drop the charges or a liberal judge will give him probation. Of course no to little bail. Rinse and repeat.

  7. Most people do not realize college and pro lineman can lift #300 over their heads. This guy is just a squishy blocking dummy. Kudos for the classy big guy (in an uncomfortable seat) who did not take his pain out on this dirt bag.
