Leave a Comment for a Chance to Win Hilton Gold Status, United Miles, and More!

Milepoint, the frequent flyer community that I co-founded, will be launching the ability to ‘gift’ premium memberships. That way you can effectively ‘buy’ more than one elite status, more than one discount for various travel providers. You can use them yourself and still give them away to friends and family.

Since the functionality now exists (even if the interface isn’t yet public – stay tuned), I can give away premium membership on Milepoint as well.

Milepoint Premium Membership is normally $49 and gets you:

And more.

So I thought I would give away (3) premium memberships. Each winner will receive premium membership on Milepoint, which comes with all of the above benefits.

And all you have to do to enter is:

  • Leave a comment on this blog post, answering the question “Which benefit of premium membership do you like the most?”
  • No more than one entry per day, loosely defined (ensure you are not entering more than once every 24 hours, but it won’t disqualify you as long as each entry is on a different calendar day in my home time zone).
  • Entries close Thursday at 8pm Eastern time. I will select winners at random.
  • All decisions, actions, and interpretations are mine, not subject to appeal, and you agree by entering that I have no liability for the manner in which the contest is run. In other words, don’t give me a hard time when I’m trying to give away miles, thank you.

So… leave a comment answering “Which benefit of premium membership do you like the most?”

And hopefully you agree that we’ve done a good job putting together a suite of benefits that’s valuable for frequent flyers.

  1. This is a tough one…but I’ll probably go with the 10% off Hyatt GCs. HHonors Gold is a close second though…actually they’re all pretty awesome! Especially if you want to give it to me for free 🙂

  2. HHonors Gold is especially awesome. Especially since Citibank thinks I already have too many credit cards, so I couldn’t get HHonors Gold status through the HHonors Reserve Visa.

  3. My Hilton Gold status ends this March since I didn’t make enough qualifying stays… It would be fantastic to have it extended.

  4. Probably Hilton Gold. I’ve been staying with Starwood more lately, and probably won’t hit Gold the old fashioned way.

  5. I like the free parking best as I make a lot of short weekend trips. The Hyatt and Hilton goodies are icing on the cake!

  6. Even with the devaluation, the Hilton chain just seems to work for us most often. Having Gold status would be so-o-o nice!

  7. wow this sounds like a great program! I love the free Hilton Gold status for sure. I like the free car parking for a day too.

  8. Hilton Gold. For even seasonal travelers it makes sense. Just (1) night at a mid to upper tier can pay for the Premium membership itself (free breakfast & wifi, maybe an upgrade or possibly lounge access, etc). This is a no brainer and no CC sign up required for those who want elite hotel status but can’t / don’t want to apply for any CC’s.

  9. Hilton HHonors Gold elite status that comes with free breakfast and wifi through the beginning of 2015.

  10. Hilton Gold free breakfast…and that you are giving it away. I haven’t taken a paid international trip in over 5 years because you taught me the ropes! Thanks Gary!

  11. I’m going with the National Car executive since I think I now get HH Gold thru AmEx Plat or some card. Our 20 year old Ford Ranger doesn’t go far from mhome so we rent from the great folks @ Union Station National (WASC08)& they always set me up with a sweet ride. BTW already MP Premium so will be fun to give as gift 🙂

  12. All of them! I’m indecisive… I already am Hilton Gold/near diamond, so I’d go with the miles!

  13. HH Gold….I have it thru the HH Reserve Card, but probably won’t renew the card..the 1K MileageMINUS miles is ok, too….lol

  14. The Hyatt discount could be the highest value if you’re spending a *lot* but Hilton Gold is probably the easiest to leverage, so that’s my pick.

  15. A nice opportunity — thanks. The Nat’l Car Rental Executive Status and 1000 United miles (as I’m going for an award before devaluation) would be equally useful to me. If forced to choose to meet your give-away requirements, I’ll choose the Nat’l status.

  16. I LOVE THE National status. It’s one of the small joys of travel seeing which car you’ll end up with.

  17. I think the one free day of parking is a really neat benefit with the potential to be the most valuable.

  18. I would definitely consider Hilton Gold status as the best benefit of the bunch, and the most useful.

  19. The benefit I like the most would be Hilton Gold status but since I have it from the Reserve card and now Amex Platinum, my answer for this contest would be 1000 United miles. Ok, too much info?

  20. Hilton Gold status – what a treat for not-so-frequent travelers who still enjoy a bit of special treatment!

  21. First of all, thank you!

The free day of parking on each stay would be awesome, especially for some of my short trips.

  22. At the risk of being unoriginal, the HHonors Gold status. Earns breakfast, bonus points, wi-fi, possible upgrades, and sometimes other perks. I generally use a Fast Track offer: 4 stays, including award stays, within 90 days after registration. However, getting Gold for free is even better, so I’m trying for that. 😉

  23. I got an Accor Platimum status for free and turned it into 3 18 euro breakfasts, each morning, which the rest of the group had to pay for.

  24. My favorite is the 10% discount on Hyatt gift cards. Will come in handy for Hyatt Andaz Maui trip!

  25. HHonors Gold status and the 10% off Hyatt gc are the best benefit. I am greedy I cannot choose just one.

  26. I like Hilton Gold because of complimentary breakfast, complimentary internet, availability upgrades and complimentary access to the health club.

  27. I would love to have the Hilton Gold.. Would make my stays at Hilton more enjoyable !! Especially the free breakfast !

  28. Gary, what a great idea for you to marry
Deals galore with Milepoints for traveler wary.

My heart, so fond, the deal with Hyatt,
to rest my head with peace and quiet.

    For the ten percent discount,
    a vocal campaign I’d mount –

At the top of my lungs, I’d sing
of Hyatt dreams thanks to you and a View From the Wing!

  29. my favorite benefit would be the Hilton Gold status, because I stay at 2-3 Hiltons a year- not enough to earn status or even be worth getting it through a credit card, but I would certainly enjoy having it if I was already Gold.

  30. The United Miles, definitely! Even with the devaluation, they’re still very useful to me. If I didn’t already have Gold status, I would say that – free breakfast is a fantastic perk.

  31. The United Miles (to help make up the gap left by the devaluation), but also the subscription to InsideFlyer. As a newbie to miles and points, I can use all the helpful information available!

  32. Best benefit for me is probably the hyatt GC discount…would’ve preferred marriott elite nights to the hyatt benny 🙂

  33. United MileagePlus 1,000 bonus award miles
And thanks for all the things I have learned from your blog!

  34. United miles – I don’t stay in big chain hotels much but I use miles to travel internationally for free all the time.

  35. This would be nice — thanks. 1000 United miles while I’m working toward an award before devaluation.

  36. I’d have to go with the Hyatt Gift Certificates. Hilton’s good too, but I have that one already.

  37. Hilton Honors Gold — you get a room that looks over at the big balloon launch at H Bonnet Creek/Epcot Center.

  38. I wish I had access to more Hyatt properties and could say the discount on gift cards was my favorite. As it is, the gold status with Hilton would prove most beneficial to me!

  39. The free digital access to INSIDE FLYER; it’s very useful to have, it costs inside flyer nothing, (but provides exposure to new prospective customers). It a “win-win-win” for you to offer, me to have and Mr Peterson, for the exposure. Can you beat that?

  40. I would say Hilton Gold but I have that as a result of the Hilton Reserve card, so the second one for me would be the elevated PointsHound status. I’ve been interested in it for a while but haven’t taken the leap yet, the ability to earn more miles per stay would make it an easy decision.

  41. Seth, mightI be so bold as to say I’d like HH Gold?
With View from the Wing, this status I’d bring
To a room with a view, and yummy hot breakfast too!
Forget airline miles, with HHGold, I’d travel in style!
The world I would roam, and even bring my travel gnome!
This Milepoint would be a treat, perhaps even an upgrade to a suite!

  42. Gary, might I be so bold as to say I’d like HH Gold?

  43. 1000 UA miles because they are sooooooooooo* valuable.

    /sarcasm

    *tm by Rudi c. 1999/Flyertalk

  44. Hilton HHonors Gold elite status is the benefit I like the most. Thanks for offering the opportunity to win.

  45. Hilton gold status would currently prove most beneficial to me! I would say the Hyatt discount if I had access to more of their properties.

  46. Award Wallet Plus upgrade. Need to keep track of all those points I’m earning thanks to you!

  47. ummmm…

1000 UA miles because they are sooooooooooo* valuable.

  48. Time being worth more than money, when I want to travel with my Honey.
I’ll take the KVS Availaility Tool – easy to book points trips – it totally rules!

Being blonde, I need all the help I can get, KVS certainly does the trick!
Off to London, Paris, Kiev or Rome, KVS helps me get away from Home.

Now and then I have a brain fart, 😉 with KVS it’s just read the charts!
Really Gary, booking points trips can be scary; using KVS it won’t be weary!

Then again, don’t say my choice, those points seats fly fast so I’ll quiet my voice!

  49. All of it! HHonors Gold would be nice. I’ll always take complimentary WiFi and breakfast (top two hotel expenses for me outside of the room).

  50. Upgrades!! Hard fall from united 1k to “member”. Sorry, company changer their preffered partners for overseas travels.. I’m a looser now 🙁

  51. I absolutely love Hilton gold status, with free internet and breakfast. I’ve also from time to time received a room upgrade in the past as a result of gold status. It makes a good trip a GREAT trip!

  52. United points are the best! I’ve had the opportunity to fly business class to Europe several times, all because of flights available on points on both United and its partner, Lufthansa. What a great way to fly! (Also enjoyed the excellent Lufthansa club in Frankfurt!)

  53. Hilton HHonors Gold Status. Has been very worthwhile during the time that I’ve had it.

  54. The 10% on gift cards, which so few mention. Always good to hit a minimum spend and get a discount for doing it.

  55. In this day of evaluation, it is nice to see something positive and make one believe in the airline/hotel industry again! 🙂

  56. The National Executive status (only because I already have Hilton Gold and don’t fly United and have several days at Parking Spot).

  57. FLEXIBILITY
Retired kindergarten teacher using my United Miles that I had due to getting a CC that you you referred. Using only the miles from that one card acquisition to fly RT to Ecuador this Feb.
Your resources are phenomenal and appreciated.

  58. Hilton gold is best value. But I have already have it so I would most appreciate the United miles to go toward some more first class partner awards before February.

  59. Hilton HHonors Gold elite status would be very nice to have as I get to travel but never enough to have any status.

  60. HH Gold as current status ends in by end of 2013 and need something to match concierge with ClubCarlson

  61. The UA miles. I don’t rent cars very often, and seldom stay at Hiltons since they devalued their program so much.

  62. I already have Hilton Gold from Amex, so I’d have to say AwardWallet. It’s really an amazing service!

  63. Hilton Honors, recently retired after having travel be a big part of my professional life. Still do some but not enough to keep all the “elite” status that I had. It is tough going to the “back of the bus”, etc. without the perks. (Don’t miss the actual travel as much!!!).

  64. um er …

1000 UA miles because they are sooooooooooo* valuable.

  65. I think I would most use the Gold status at Hilton. I stay at Hilton family hotels most often and appreciate the added benefits of Gold status.

  66. Hilton HHonors Gold elite status is the benefit I like the most. Love the free breakfast. Thanks for offering the opportunity to win.

  67. Umlimited FREE 1-day parking @Parking Spot is crazy benefit for anyone who has paid to park.. Hilton Gold right after followed by National Executive.. i would love some fast cars!!

  68. For me, it would be the executive level for National Car Rental. Just being able to walk out and get a nice car, instead of having to worry of how tiny the compact is going to be, makes travel just that much easier.

  69. Hilton Gold…last year we stayed 6-7 times at Hilton and free breakfast by itself was almost $150 in value.

  70. HH Gold would be my fav perk – but i achieved that on my own. I am also National Exec. One free day of parking with Parking Spot would be nice to have.

  71. I like the National Rental Car Executive Status. It lets me choose a large car for my family while paying for a midsize!

  72. The answer is simple. All of them! The benefits are broad and offer a variety of perks so there is basically something for everyone. That’s the beauty of the MilePoint Premium Membership. We all value things differently and having a range or benefits only helps to make the program beneficial to all who join.

  73. HH Gold & the National Car Rental Executive status. Would definitely come in handy in the upcoming trips.

  74. National status. I love being able to pick out a nice car and I’ve found their service to be excellent

  75. Hilton Honors Gold for me. I failed in a challenge by one stay but want to use them more. As I live in the UK, the US based benefits are less useful to me but if I won I would start a United account!

  76. HHonors gold without having to do tons of biz travel anymore!!!

and an extra 1000 united miles never hurt!

    Thank you!

  77. Definitely Hilton Gold, stay at Hiltons a lot for work, could replace my Hilton card with this instead 🙂

  78. I like the Gold status with Hilton. This is a huge benefit for room upgrades and free breakfast.

  79. Hard to chose just one perk and time is running out!
Poem comments may be a quirkthey all bring travel clout
So many great perks, it’s hard to pick one.
So a poem or two I wrote in hopes to win… but time ran out when a neighbor stopped by.

Thanks Gary for all you do for us travelers!

  80. I’d say united miles because of my proximity to Newark Airport but they really aren’t worth enough so I think the Hilton Gold benefits are much more valuable.

  81. In spite of the devaluation, Hilton Gold is my choice. Just wish it posted sooner than 8-12 weeks as I have a trip to Puerto Rico during Xmxas vacation. My silver status gets me nada.
