  1. Careful about knocking these hotels. Choice seems to be doing some upgrading lately with surprising results.

    I stayed in a Comfort Inn in Chicago over the 4th and it was not only new but aside from the mediocre looking outside sign, had furniture and rooms more similar to a courtyard marriott or better than a traditional comfort inn. It was also ideally located across the street from a bloomingdale’s home store a block from north michigan avenue.

    I also stayed in a Comfort inn on Times Square that while older early this year, turned out to be a pretty reasonable choice in new york

  2. I agree with MrAOK. When all I want to do is sleep, all I need is a comfortable bed, a toilet, and a hot shower, in a safe and clean temperature controlled room. I have no interest in amenities, though the usually included breakfast from Comfort Inn is nice.

    If you are over 60 years old, tell them so for a 30% discount. AAA gets you 20%. (No, you can’t combine them.)
