American and Qantas Submitted Request to DOT Today to Collude on Schedules, Pricing

Two years ago American Airlines and Qantas announced an expanded joint venture. American was launching Sydney and Auckland service, Qantas Sydney – San Francisco. And they indicated there would be more new routes in the offing as a result of the partnership.

The Obama administration’s Department of Transportation indicated they were going to reject anti-trust immunity for the revenue-sharing partnership. They said they didn’t believe there would be greater growth in service compared to what they expected to happen anyway which was a novel approach. Qantas and American withdrew their application rather than having it rejected.

Travel companies are running from the NRA faster than politicians whose committees had jurisdiction over Native American gaming ran from Jack Abramoff.

United, Delta, Wyndham and now even the NRA’s co-brand credit card issuing bank are distancing themselves. And the same theory of why things turned so quickly on Harvey Weinstein — and communist domination of Eastern Europe — may help explain why.

jetBlue Passenger Hits Flight Attendant, Breaks Out of Handcuffs Twice and Goes on Epic Rant

A passenger on a jetBlue flight Tuesday night from Los Angeles to New York JFK began yelling at a flight attendant while the aircraft was taxiing out prior to takeoff. He then “punched the flight attendant in the head.”

Crew members come to the assistance of the flight attendant who was punched. Flight attendants get restraints from the overhead bin. But this man wasn’t going to be restrained.

First Class Awards to Asia for the Whole Family Using Star Alliance Miles

Star Alliance member Asiana is great for award availability. I’ve always had good luck with space on the West Coast – Seoul flights in business class, and beyond to Southeast Asia and first class availability — on the limited routes where it’s offered — is generally good too.

Right now New York JFK – Seoul is served by a Boeing 777-200LR with no first class. However the Airbus A380 returns to New York at the end of March. The A380 is available Frankfurt – Seoul as well.
