Chase won’t approve many people who have opened 5 or more new accounts within the previous 24 months for some of their credit cards. That’s frequently referred to as “5/24.”
However some cards are exempt from 5/24, and the number of new accounts you’ve had in the last two years won’t disqualify you from being approved.
That’s one of the great benefits of the British Airways Visa Signature® Card — it’s easier for many people to get approved.
British Airways First Class
Yesterday I wrote that Chase introduced a new Iberia credit card.
- Iberia and British Airways are owned by the same company
- Points can be combined if your accounts have had some activity before and have been open 90 days
The Iberia card is substantially similar to the British Airways product. They’re two separate products. And reports so far seem to be that customers who are over ‘5/24’ are getting approved.
So in effect there’s 150,000 Avios available from two card offers from Chase, and both products seem not to be constrained for folks with 5 or more new card accounts in the last 24 months.
Another data point – approved today (not instant, I had to call). And I’m waaaaay over 5/24.
I’m on it – only use for American Airlines, but another 75,000 will work.
Can you combine your Iberia Avios with your BA Avios account?
I am considering both cards – for short trips in Asia, oola!
