Earning 5,000 Delta Miles For Just 3 Minutes’ Time [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • My Delta checked bags took 22 minutes to deliver in Austin on Friday. My wife and I each got 2,500 SkyMiles. The form is simple and quick and claim approved instantly. Not worth much, but that’s still better than our bags taking 19 minutes…

  • I’ve decided to go for it.

  1. Alaska also offers it for 2500 points if bags don’t arrive in 20 mins from arriving at the gate.

  2. The beauty about Delta’s system is that, unlike Alaska’s, it’s entirely automated so once it hits the 21 minute mark after plane doors open, it’s spending 30 seconds to filll out the form once you have your SkyMiles number memorized and then the miles post within five minutes of that. And I’ll definitely take $25+ off toward a future flight for 30 seconds of work.

  3. @ C. Wesley

I’ve flown SJC to SEA and SJC to SLT for 5,000 miles on Delta before.

Plus there’s the more obvious issue of topping off your current balance to reach a particular mileage requirement for a flight.

In what alternative universe are 5,000 Skymiles “utterly useless”?

  4. I got my 2500 miles from delta and cashed in on a one way ticket in business class to Australia
Why is my nose growing? I’m not Pinocchio
Yes I had to add another 497,500. miles sigh

  5. If I do not get the upgrade and are sitting in the exit row, it usually takes me twenty minutes to get to the baggage claim…..Unless delta puts that pesky priority tag on my bag. I’d say I typically get the miles at least 75% of the time.
