Three months ago Garuda Indonesia had snakes but the airline dismissed it claiming they were just ‘legless lizards’ (like that’s better?).

Two months ago there was an actual snake on an Aeromexico flight from Torreon to Mexico City. The flight made it to its destination but was given priority for landing and airline employees ‘secured the reptile’.

Last year there were snakes in the Bangkok airport.

Most of the time of course it’s just other passengers’ trouser snakes that wreak havoc.

But for one Emirates flight from Muscat to Dubai, Samuel L. Jackson’s rage didn’t manage to quell the snakes. Emirates EK863 was reportedly cancelled on Sunday however aircraft tracking sites suggest that it was only delayed. Several media have a statement from Emirates on the cancellation, but better reporting seems to suggest a delay of about 5 hours.

A spokesperson for the airline, quoted by Dubai-based media, said the snake was found before passengers boarded the plane.

The aircraft was searched before re-entering service and arriving at its destination several hours later.

It turns out that the snake was in the cargo hold.
