Fare Alert: Major US Cities to Bangkok From $216 Roundtrip

For a decade it was unheard of to see roundtrip fares to Southeast Asia for under $600. That’s changed. I don’t even bother sharing fares to Europe unless they’re under $500… preferably under $400. Still this one is an unusually good fare even by recent sale fare standards.

Fly4Free says Star Alliance carrier ANA has roundtrip fares to Bangkok from $216. This is the same airline that had a $597 roundtrip business class fare to Australia in August.

The Bangkok fare, higher on some dates, is available in January, February and March.

Book via airfare metasearch site Momondo. This is their Italian site, switch the currency to USD dollars to better understand the fares and use a credit card that waives foreign transaction fees if booking on a non-US site.

You should be able to find these fares originating in New York, Houston, San Francisco, Seattle or Los Angeles.

I know many readers want business class sales, it’s a long way to go in coach, but this is an amazing fare – and it won’t last. In fact in case ANA has “seller’s remorse” I’d wait a few days to make sure they don’t back out of honoring the fare before making additional travel plans.

Comments

  1. This fare has been around for a week or two; pretty unlikely that ANA doesn’t know about it.

The issue is that it seems to have maximum on-the-ground time of 1 day in BKK — departure and return dates must be no more than 3 days apart.

  2. It’s rather hard to find possible dates given these scant details… and momondo doesn’t make it any easier.

  3. These fares aren’t feasible as they only come up for about a 3 day turnaround. No one wants that.
