FARE DEAL: Business Class to Tokyo from Just $1580 Roundtrip on Delta

Three months ago I wrote that it’s the golden age of air travel with cheap fares all over the world. Most of those fares have been in economy, with sub-$400 roundtrips to Europe and Asia with amazing flash sales.

I certainly prefer travel in business class, and readers have been asking for those deals, recently I’ve highlighted West Coast to several European cities from $2000 roundtrip, business class to several Asian destinations for $1954, West Coast to Africa from $2146 roundtrip, United business to Asia from $1700 roundtrip, Business class to Europe $409 one-way and Singapore Airlines Business Class to Europe or Asia for Less Than $2000 roundtrip. This last was my favorite deal of all.

Airlines are more aggressively discounting business class than before, not just economy, even if most of the eye-popping sales are in coach (and even if $1600 is of course still a lot of money). When I can buy paid business class for not substantially more than I ‘expect’ to ‘usually’ pay for economy that’s a good deal.

And via God Save the Points Delta is offering roundtrip business class fares between Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver and Tokyo from $1580 for summer travel.

The fare is widely available. And at this price it can make sense to position yourself to Canada.

Here’s a sample itinerary:

Delta fare basis ZHW0ZPDB has the following key rules:

  • Transpacific travel must be on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in each direction
  • Outbound must be by September 30
  • 6 month maximum stay
  • $100 per stopover allowed (one in each direction)
  • Tickets must be issued by June 5, but the fare could be pulled before then
  • Non-refundable with a CAD 450.00 change fee

This fare is a wonderful opportunity to get ‘lost’ in this most amazing city.

  3. I must confess, I spend about 8 months a year in Portland Or. Flying to Asia from Vancouver BC is exponentially cheaper than Seattle or Portland. Air Canada (a customer service vacuum to be fair) has fares in business for $2000 as a normal price.

  4. Its funny that I can drive to YVR from Seattle and the flight routes me back thru SEA. The price goes from $1600 up to $7000

  5. The YVR option is the best kept secret in the PNW. Better airport, better routes, better aircraft, better lounges and lower prices. Everyday low prices of $2600 to $3000 to Europe and Asia in business class on multiple airlines. Worth the drive. Plus the Fairmont at the airport knows how to keep breakfast buffet eggs from turning into a massive brick of dehydrated sponge.

  6. I gotta be honest… While getting $8k business class tickets for “free” is certainly a lot of fun, I’ve learned that I really enjoy traveling Asia, and would find business class tickets under $3k to be appropriately priced. I’d buy them at that price every other year or so.

  7. Living in the Detroit areas has allowed me to take advantage of Toronto on numerous occasions. This one is tempting.
