Is it possible to merge this new account with an existing non-elite one to keep existing points?
just get the credit card if you want silver status every year (and 30k points, and 1 free night every year and 15 nights stay credit every year.) What’s the big deal here, Gary?
LIH Prem, the credit card is not an option for everyone, nor is it a desirable option for others.
Someone who doesn’t want their credit pulled or doesn’t want to pay an annual fee or doesn’t qualify for a credit card for a host of legitimate reasons (e.g. they live outside the US, etc.).
This offer will be helpful to some, so to blithely and dismissively say “just get the credit card” is pretty silly.
@LIH Prem very much NOT a big deal which is why it didn’t merit a second paragraph to the post. Just thought worth passing along.
fair enough .. maybe the 2nd paragraph might have been a reminder about the ongoing credit card offer, with the annual free night. 🙂

Oh for sure. And it was in my brain when I started to write the post, just didn’t seem like that much there so I sorta passed it along without comment..
